SUNREF Workshop June 8th - Field trip As part of the SUNREF Partners’ Workshop organized by AFD, a one day on site visit of different facilities is organized in order to discover and discuss different types of energy production processes. Visits are organized in partnership with ADEME and SER. In total, the group will visit 4 locations: 2 sites on Renewable Energy and 2 sites on Energy Efficiency. Planning of the day • 8:00 – Departure (by Bus). The group is set to leave from Place de la Joliette n°10, in front of the building “Les Docks”. • 9:00 A.M. – Visit of Canto-Perdrix wood combustion heating system in Martigues • 11:00 A.M. – Visit of La Poste group’s photovoltaic system in Rognac • 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. – Lunch at Restaurant les Bienfaits in Rognac • 2:15 P.M.– Visit of Solamat Merex, an autonomous factory electricity through waste incineration • 4:00 P.M. – Visit of Coca Cola Enterprise: an example of condensation of fumes on a boiler economizer • 6:30 P.M. – Return to Marseille Emergency contact Caroline Rozieres: + 33 6 08 55 26 38 CEFEB: + 33 04 91 13 17 50 Description of the locations Canto-Perdrix wood combustion heating system: In November 2015, Canto-Perdrix (100% owned by Dalkia) created a new wood combustion heating system in Martigues that aimed at providing both lower tariffs for electricity and heat to the municipality as well as diminish the previous emissions of such energy production. The new system is expected to reduce by 59% the total yearly emission of CO2 of the energy production process and allow Canto-Perdrix to reduce prices for energy by 10%. LA POSTE’s solar rooftop photovoltaic system: POSTE IMMO, real estate subsidiary of LA POSTE Group, has signed a partnership with URBASOLAR for the construction of photovoltaic plants on the sites of the LA POSTE Group. The panels are installed on the roof of mail sorting centers. Since the beginning of this partnership, 45 sites have been equipped. The total area covered by the photovoltaic panels is 85 000𝑚2 which allows an annual production of 5 500 MWhm, the equivalent consumption of 2000 households. This solar system insures that 2 000 tons of CO2 are avoided per year. Solamat Merex: This is an industrial waste incinerator with a capacity of 60,000 tons / year. The incineration process produces a volume of 10 tons / hour of steam that reaches 235 ° C. This steam can be used either in a heat network or be converted into electricity. Here, the steam engine provides about 95% of the electricity used by the site during the year. Coca Cola’s plant: The plant, which produces 7days/week – 24h/day is responsible for bottleling the groups beverages. Its steam production is ensured by a conventional gas boiler system. The plant is equipped with an economizer that allows heat to be recuperated and stored in the combustion fumes to be injected later into the boiler inlet. The inlet was over-equipped with a capacitor. This allows the energy contained in the steam to be recuperated; this is so-called low temperature heat (less than 50 degrees Celsius). The low temperature heat is sent to the sugar solution workshop necessary to beverages which operates at 26°C. The condensing economizer saves 8% combustion efficiency compared to a standard saver.
