Conditions of use:
• Domestic gas cylinders are exposed to the out-side atmosphere
(city, country, industrial),
• During transportation, setting, installation of the gas cylinder, the
painting of the cylinder is subject to damage and scratches.
Alternative solutions to metallisation:
• Hot galvanisation is not usual. The integration of a continuous
galvanisation process on a gas cylinder production line is not easy.
• Epoxy painting are usual in Asia, America and middle east but:
Painting life-time is only a few years (<5years),
Painting do not protect the steel, when cylinder is scratched.
Coating solution: Zinc Metallisation + painting.
Benefits of the metallisation process:
• Zinc coating is a cathodic protection against the corrosion.
• Zinc coating is a shocks resistant coating,
• The metallisation increase the bonding of the painting layer.
• The combination Zinc coating + painting allows a life-time higher
than 25 years.

• The metallisation operation is 1,5 to 2 times more expensive than
th
painting, but metallisation return on invest starts before the 10
year. Then, metallisation allows to reduce the long-term cost linked
to the exploitation of the gas cylinder rental park.

declaration in 1985: Use and development of long-term gas or LPG
gas applications in order to limit the intensive deforestation in Africa,
for the limitation of the greenhouse gases production.
