With capacity commercialised on 28 satellites
that provide coverage over the entire European

The first all Ka-band High
Throughput Satellite (HTS) in
Europe, KA-SAT, has been developed to provide cost-effective
broadband access and IP services.
Launched end-2010 and positioned at 9° East, KA-SAT is an
integral part of a network of ten
ground stations interconnected
by an IP MPLS fibre network
linked to four major European
POPs. KA-SAT provides coverage
through 82 spotbeams using
four different frequencies for
efficient frequency re-use. This
process multiplies the available
capacity by a factor of 20, to attain
the unprecedented amount of
broadband capacity of 90 Gbps.

Tooway™ fast internet is immediately available
and performs equally in all KA-SAT coverage
areas across Europe, the Mediterranean Basin
and some areas of the Middle East. It is also a
cost-effective solution for local administrations
to provide immediate access to broadband where
the limited number of connections does not
justify investment for terrestrial infrastructures,
such as copper or fibre. Each Tooway™ home
is individually equipped with a satellite kit that

250 Km in diameter enabling broadcasts to be
focused over specific regions. This has the
added benefit of avoiding encryption procedures
to restrict access and reduce costs.
