La 4ème édition de Paris Design Week est l'événement
qui permettra à l'association 1992 de réunir
et présenter une sélection de projets issus
de rencontres fortes, de collaborations
et de partage entre créateurs.

1992 1 rassemble des créations
multidisciplinaires issues
de merveilleuses rencontres
du monde entier. Il génère la
collaboration entre plusieurs
générations désireuses de se
concentrer sur trois points : la synergie, le mouvement,
l'échange 2.

Walter Benjamin, L'œuvre d'art à l'époque de sa reproduction mécanisée.
Le design mis en avant et diffusé actuellement est si
prévisible qu’il est presque invisible. Il appelle une donnée
nouvelle qui, par la torsion des règles ruinerait toutes
prédictions ! Provocant, inattendu, déréglant les habitudes,
nous proposons au travers de 22 projets* une nouvelle
expérimentation, un nouvel élan nourri des aléas de ce
qui n'est pas prévu.

6 projets d'étudiants en Cultural
Studies à l'ESAD de Reims ont été
sélectionnés.
Ils ont créé des objets à partir de
Mash-up, utilisant la pop musique
des années 1980, symbolisant la
situation économique et politique
mondiale à cette époque.
Cette forme d'analyse sortant des
sentiers battus les a amenés à
faire ressortir des thèmes forts,
donnant lieu à la création d'objets
singuliers.
1 1992 évoque
une date charnière
en France, celle de
l’évolution des écoles
de Beaux-Arts en
ESAD. Cette transition
entre art et design
permit ainsi une
pluridisciplinarité
et ouvrit la voie de
l’imprévisible dans
un univers où tout
semblait stable
et établi.

The 4th edition of Paris Design Week has invited
the Association 1992 to reunite and present a
selection of projects issued from stong professional
relationships, incredible student work and a
multi-generational sharing of creation.

Created in 2014, the not-forprofit association 1992 1 brings
together work that issues from
wonderful meet-ups from around
the world. These collaborations
will always seek out several
generations of creators with the
intention to focus on three points : synergy, movement, exchange 2.

The design that is currently being put forward and
distributed, so predictable, almost invisible, calls for
a new approach that might massage the rules, breaking
down any and all predictions. Challenging the unexpected
disruption of habits, we share with you 22 projects* that
coming together in this exhibition form a new experiment,
a new momentum that fuels the vagaries of what is not
expected.

6 projects from students in
Cultural Studies at the ESAD
of Reims have been selected.
They have created objets from the
starting point of a Mash-up, where
they channeled pop music from the
1980s, symbolising for them the
global socio-economic situation
of the time.
This form of analysis, far from the
beaten track of academic research
or classic design, allowed them
to work through and discover very
strong themes, and eventually gave
way to a creation of objects that
are in their own right quite singular
and certainly unforseeable.

of Fine Arts into
ESAD. This transition
between art and
design has permitted
the introduction
of multidisciplinary
methodologies and
paved the way for
the unexpected
in a universe
where everything
seemed stable and
established.

JEAN-CHARLES AMEY
Toujours prêt à participer
à des projets ambitieux, Jean-Charles
a notamment travaillé avec Pierre Charpin,
Robert Stadler et Germain Bourré. Ayant
de la bouteille, Amey est aussi l’alternative
à Amen (et ce, suite à une erreur de
traduction malencontreuse des textes
bibliques).
MARC BRETILLOT
Tête brûlée mais cuite à point,
Marc Brétillot découpe les différents
standards de la mise en scène des
aliments à sa guise. Cré-acteur de goûts
et d’expériences, mettre les pieds sous la
table ne lui suffit pas. Imposant et joyeux
chimiste, il a su créer sa propre table
périodique des éléments.
FERRÉOL BABIN
Jeune designer, il a su voguer sur
la lumière. Peut-être est-ce dû à son
année passée à Nagoya au Japon. Barbe
rousse mais pas très éloigné du surfeur
d’argent, il a su s’attirer la lumière des
projecteurs en invitant, par ses projets
poétiques, à lire dans l’espace et l’esprit
par l’objet.
FX BALLÉRY
FX statue pour François-Xavier.
C’est aussi le diminutif d' « effets
spéciaux » / « special effects ». Son
passage par le Royal College of Art
de Londres n’est donc pas si anodin.
Il travailla pour nombre de grandes
marques de prestige. Surprise est
de mise.
ERIC BLONDIN
Acteur et spectateur averti des astres
et de leur scintillement, il voyage d’étoile
en étoile. Ses projets, mettant en avant
l’interactivité et l’anticipation des formes
et fonctions, donnent à vivre ces petites
choses nous entourant : les données.
Un acrobate changeant la Donne.
MATHILDE BRETILLOT
C’est une globe trotteuse, à l’épreuve
du temps pour lequel elle joue le rôle
d’aiguille. Habile de ses mains et du
regard, ses créations ouvrent en grand
le monde des songes. Ses voyages et
son expérience l’on menée à coordonner
pendant 12 ans le département Design de
l’ESAD de Reims.
FRANÇOIS DUMAS
Étonnamment pour un Dumas, celui-ci ne
manie pas les vers même s’il a acquis ses
lettres de noblesse. Influencé et influent il
fluctue dans les frontières
du design français et hollandais.
Un clin d’oeil dynamique.
« Hier is een uitnodiging ».
ÉMILIE COLIN GARROS
Il n’y a pas d’aire de jeu trop grande.
Après avoir triomphée de toutes les
terres : faïence, cristal et autres. Son
design s’imprègne de présences,
d’intuition et de gestes élémentaires.
Faire mordre la poussière à la terre battue
est quelque chose qui coule
de source. En somme : Émilie
mon cher Watson.
LAURENT GRESLIN
Aventurier des éléments,
son intérêt pour toutes les techniques
traditionnelles en font un alchimiste
de la forme. Son regard, d’une clarté
à faire pâlir un ciel bleu d’été, sait saisir la
technique et la rendre docile afin
de donner vie à toutes ses créations.
STÉPHANE BUREAUX
Son nom de famille, rappelant le mobilier,
donne le ton : il est constitué d’une
réflexion et d’une analyse toujours en
mouvement. Jongler avec les goûts et les
couleurs n’est pas un problème, l’équilibre
est tenu dans le gigantesque manoir du
design contemporain.

ÉRIC JOURDAN
Après avoir attendu les barbares et
leur avoir troqué quelques savoirs, Éric
Jourdan se déplace lentement vers notre
lumière. Il n’a pas de côté obscur pour
autant. L’imprévisibilité de ses desseins
est caractérisée par l’habileté de sa main
dessinant les détails avec minutie.
LAMARCHE-OVIZE
Couple-artiste sachant garder le
rythme, leurs connaissances ovizées de
l’esthétique nous offrent un décathlon
de création pouvant parfois couper le
souffle. Sachant se passer le relais sur de
multiples plans, l’inattendu n’a pour eux,
plus rien d’athlétique.
VINCENT LOIRET
L’esprit tranquille avec un soupçon de
bougeotte, Vincent Loiret sait prendre
place là où il n’y en a pas. Ses assises y
sont peut-être pour quelque chose. C’est
en quelque sorte « la classe à Dallas ». Il
est jalousé de toutes parts depuis 2012,
peut-être à force de rouler sa Boulle
à Paris ?
VÉRONIQUE MAIRE
Son travail varié lui a toujours permis
d’avoir la confiance des scrutins.
Elle siège pour de multiples marques
luxueuses aux quatre coins des objets.
Perfectionniste et surprenante, elle prend
souvent place dans votre quotidien.
À suivre dans « House of Cards ».
PATRICK NADEAU
Loin d’être fleur bleu, Patrick Nadeau
est architecte. Archi présent sur
la scène du design végétal, c’est lors
de son séjour à la Villa Kujoyama qu’il se
prend d’amour pour les plantes en leur
offrant une place dans l’environnement
urbain. Les plantes vivrait-elle donc
d’amour et de Nadeau fraîche ?
OLIVIER PEYRICOT
Dès la rentrée il prendra les rennes,
non pas des Mystérieuses Cités d’Or
mais de la Cité du Design de St-Etienne.
Expérimenté, à la fois élévateurs
de conscience et professeur
de foi. Il n’a cessé de s’imprégner
de ce qui fait le métier d’un designer
complet : l’entreprise, la création
et la transmission du savoir.
ARIANE PRIN
Vers l’infini et l’au-delà des formes et des
objets. Ariane n’aime pas les frontières.
Elle ne cesse de conquérir différents
domaines sans pour autant avoir la tête
dans la lune. La liste est longue mais
quand on a travaillé pour des biologistes
au même titre que des boulangers l’on
comprend bien pourquoi la NASA lui fait
de l’oeil (et le bon.)
PHILIPPE RIEHLING
Ni jeune pousse, ni vieille branche,
Philippe Riehling sait surprendre par
son design éco-logique en total harmonie
avec toutes les préoccupations de
respect de l’environnement que l’on
connaît aujourd’hui. C’est par une
ingéniosité surprenante qu’il sait
se défaire de tous les noeuds.
SASCHA NORDMEYER
Sascha distille différents univers dans
ses projets. Son hémisphère gauche
étant français, le droit, lui, Allemand,
il se promène dans une forêt de
domaines : du design graphique au design
industriel en passant par
le mobilier. Il sait varier les plaisirs.

STUDIO BRICHET-ZIEGLER
Ils s’invitent chez vous et changent
la gravité. Utilisant l’échange et la
discussion comme levier de création,
leurs idées et expériences leurs
permettent de créer et vous raconter
vos futurs histoires. Une page se tourne
et un nouveau chapitre commence.

STUDIO PLASTAC
Studio trans-genre, ils escaladent
leurs commandes par le biais d’un
véritable numéro d’équilibriste. Sans
médium défini, ils savent néanmoins
très bien lire entre les lignes. D’une main
légère et juste ils trouvent leur source
d’inspiration dans une rivière
de références.
STUDIO C�PY
Sun Tzu le disait dans son Art de
la Guerre : Connais ton ennemi et
connais-toi toi-même. C’est pour
cela que C&PY ont une connaissance
minutieuse des outils, des matières et
des procédés de fabrication accessibles.
Ouvrez l’oeil et le bon. Comme quoi,
3 lettres suffisent.
BOLD-DESIGN
Atomes crochus du design français,
leur complémentarité n’est plus à
débattre. Amplificateurs de rêves, ils
savent faire s’entrechoquer le conceptuel
et la fabrication rationnelle. Soulignons
aussi leur dévouement pour la surprise et
la légèreté sans pour autant les mettre en
italique.

JEAN-CHARLES AMEY
Always ready to work on ambitious
projects, Jean-Charles has also worked
with Pierre Charpin, Robert Stadler and
Germain Bourré. A sobering and witty
intelligence, Amey is also a well-known
alternative for the word “ Amen “
(everybody knows the Christians
missed a letter), but Amey always
makes the mark.
MARC BRETILLOT
We bring you a chief for the menu.
Scientist but not a mad one, he loves
to meet new people around different
types of installations. He’s always
bringing new ideas to the table. I hope you
don’t mind sitting around his ingredients
because to him you’re one.
FERRÉOL BABIN
Intelligent youth combined with unbridled
maturity, Férréol Babin use light as a
vehicle, maybe grace of his sojourn in
Japan? And to be clear : no he didn’t set
the island trembling… and yet he’s not
afraid to shake the design field with his
latest projects.
FX BALLÉRY
As you probably know, FX stands not just
for François-Xavier but Special Effects
(just ask Michael Bay, go on). He has been
through RCA’s special elite force training.
Plenty of luxury brands are asking him to
keep the good, forget the bad and kill the
ugly. Even homeland security is jealous of
his precision.
ERIC BLONDIN
He doesn’t only capture shining beams
of light, he is one of them. From stars to
stars without leaving a trace, he fights
all the black holes in outer space. His
projects aren’t here to show-off. He
pushes the ON button to open the door of
interactivity. Data but not Gaga !
MATHILDE BRETILLOT
Citizen of the World and always up to
say the right words, she’s as precise and
determinate as time itself. Eyes wide
open like her heart, she beats the tempo
to a multiplicity of creations. All those
qualities were used while shaping and
modeling for 12 years the ESAD of Reims
design department.
FRANÇOIS DUMAS
Surprising for a Dumas he’s not that fond
of writing, maybe because his words are
instead composed by shapes and mind
games. As you might see reflected in his
projects is this duality between France
and Holland while genius rests
in Neverland.
ÉMILIE COLIN GARROS
Ain’t no courtyard high enough for her
after defeating any and all fields with
her “ faïence etc… “. Her work and design
are about presence, intuition an primary
gestures. She is used to winning the
Grand Slam pretty easily on any and every
court. Beware Wimbeldon !
LAURENT GRESLIN
He probably was the last Airbender
in a parallel life. At any rate, Laurent
Greslin reincarnates the perfect balance
between acquired knowledge and
applied complexity. His glance is precise,
eagle-eyed ; but not a bird of prey, even if
hitting targets remains the aim.
STÉPHANE BUREAUX
His family name means ‘desk’ in French
but not the one you’d like to work on (or
in). But no worries he’s always on the
move. Playing along with colors, structure
he keeps the design house safe from
disorder. Ordinated, coordinated, the
blank pages don’t stay empty for long on
this one.

ÉRIC JOURDAN
After waiting for the Barbarians and
storing a few pirated treasures, Eric
Jourdan sneaks into the limelight. Even
if he doesn’t have a dark side he prefers
to wait in the shadows for the perfect
moment. Too bad he didn’t invent the term
“ unpredictability “ but we all know that he
should’ve !
LAMARCHE-OVIZE
Artist-couple who sets the tone, they
always know how to get it done. Master
of the aesthetic and ready to conquer
new fields, they invented a new word : the
L-Ovized (A mix between Ovation and
Advised). These sensual soldiers sharpen
their knives to cut the grass right from
under your feet.
VINCENT LOIRET
Close friend of Joan of Arc he got over his
virginal purity to deliver the most refined
work with the utmost sensitivity. Not an
activist but omnipresent, he creates the
space he needs to listen to the objects.
Like a prayer with more than one god,
we know that he can play the drums
in Heaven.
VÉRONIQUE MAIRE
Véronique has been working with
a multitude of world luxury brands.
Whipping up the best out of that creative
head of hers, she is a master at crafting
and assembling, which remains the heart
of her production. Watch out for the next
apparition in “ House of Cards “. Yes she
can.
PATRICK NADEAU
In bloom in every season, Patrick Nadeau
is an architect of vegetal battlefields.
People call it strategy, he calls it common
sense. Healthy by nature, he never runs
out of steam. Jumping around with his
creations he knows best about tracing
his own passions. An imaginary Tarzanic
designer at last.
OLIVIER PEYRICOT
All hail the new Research Director
at the Cité du Design of St-Etienne.
Well-known for being on every front,
Olivier’s knowledge encompasses the
whole Design chain. From companies,
to creation and also teaching he yields
a surprisingly good swiss-knife for a
Frenchie.
ARIANE PRIN
To infinity and beyond! Ariane doesn’t
like boundaries and prefers to shred
the curtain from the fall of shooting
stars. Conquering multiples hearts with
her projects she’s not left out today !
Open-handed, she flies us to the moon
and rests an example for us all.
PHILIPPE RIEHLING
Neither bloom or old branch, Philipe
Riehling knows all the mechanics of
manufacturing surprise. He has a very
special ecological way of thinking in total
harmony and awareness of global issues
and impacts. To sum it up he really just
knows how to untie the knots.
SASCHA NORDMEYER
Nordmeyer but also ever northward,
Sascha uses a hundred percent of
his brain’s capacity. 50% French
and 50% German and doesn’t really
have to fight against himself to win
and find acceptable applications of a
torrent of cleverness. Rewarded for his
unpredictability ; there is no other side
of the coin on this one.

STUDIO BRICHET-ZIEGLER
The “ take-off gravity “ is set in your living
room. Discussing and telling stories are
the fundamentals of their universe. Loving
to cross multiple narratives with their
objects is one thing but making it real
is something else altogether. Didn’t you
notice that a window is opening like the
pages of a book?
STUDIO PLASTAC
Hybrid studio, they climb the mountains of
work without any safety restraints. Neither
do they have predefined mediums.
Why should they when they know how to
read between your lines. With a soft but
penetrating touch, their inspirations are
wave after wave of references.
STUDIO C�PY
As Sun Tzu said : If you know the enemy
and know yourself, you need not fear
the result of a hundred battles. That’s
what they do, even if they haven’t yet
reached 100 projects. Their knowledge
of tools, materials and crafting integrates
incredibly effective production with all of
the elements of storytelling. 3 letters are
enough.
BOLD-DESIGN
Hooked atoms of French design, their
complementarity cannot be discussed
enough. Dream amplifiers, they know
how to make conceptual and rational
constructions that collide. We can notice
that their devotion to surprise and the
unforeseeable is the playground of their
minds.
