ET UN, ET DEUX, ET TROIS... ET QUATRE !!
Quatrième victoire d'affilée dans cette épreuve pour
le professionnel tricolore Alban de Mieulle grâce à
sa formidable jument Raqiyah GB (Amer), tenante
du titre et qui s'offre donc un doublé. Tenue au
chaud le long de la corde par son jockey Olivier
Peslier, la jument qatarie a vu le jour dans la ligne
droite et a filé vers un net succès, tenant en respect
Hilal Al Zaman IRQ (Mencour), qui mériterait une
victoire de prestige et Cambrydge (Zacan El
Baraka), qui confirme sa bonne forme après son
récent succès à Dax.
C'est un jockey heureux qui s'est confié aux micros
d'Equidia après la course : " C'est une jument très
maniable, que je connais très bien. Je sais qu' elle est généreuse et quand elle domine de cette façon, elle se livre
complètement. Elle le fait bien, même pour une rentrée. Je ne voulais pas être trop dur avec. On l'a retrouvée comme
on l'aime, comme en début d'année." Raqiyah revient au sommet après son échec relatif dans l'Emir's Sword au mois
de mars à Doha, l'épreuve reine pour les chevaux arabes au Qatar : " Elle n'avait pas "giclé", n'ayant pas son coup de
reins habituel et baissant de pied pour finir mais elle avait beaucoup couru et c'était une épreuve difficile."
Même son de cloche pour l'entraîneur français, Alban de Mieulle, toutefois soulagé de voir sa protégée s'être tirée de
sa position le long de la lice où elle aurait pu être enfermée : " J'avoue que dans les tribunes, on s'est posé des
questions vu sa position le long du rail mais un boulevard s'est ouvert devant elle, peut être même un peu trop tôt.
Elle gagne bien et fait une bonne rentrée. C'est un bon présage. Ses deux à trois mois de repos lui ont fait le plus
grand bien. Elle devrait aller courir cet été à Newbury puis Deauville avant le grand rendez-vous de la Qatar
Arabian World Cup en octobre."
La famille de Prince d'Orient
La championne d'Alban de Mieulle est issue d'une souche maternelle française et son arrière grand-mère, Bavette
(Dunixi), aujourd'hui décédée, a notamment donné naissance au champion Prince d'Orient, aujourd'hui étalon. Il n'est
donc pas étonnant de voir Sarahmina (Tornado de Syrah), la mère de Raqiyah, s'avérer une bonne génitrice,
produisant également une propre soeur, Tameemah GB (Amer), placée de Groupe 1 PA. A noter que la mère et la
grand-mère, Amina de Pedalia (Djelfor), étaient toutes deux entraînées par Jean-Pierre Totain.
Imbroglio en tête de course
Scène étonnante dans les premiers mètres de course. On pouvait penser que Simmbad ( Njewman), cheval allant,
ferait du train pour son compagnon d'écurie, Nayef Al Khalidiah KSA (Câlin de Loup), mais c'est ce dernier qui
finalement prenait le commandement des opérations. Cela sonnait le glas des espoirs de Scoubidou de Carrère
(Djouras Tu), qui devait se contenter d'attendre derrière les animateurs au lieu de pouvoir dominer en tête du peloton.
Cela en était fini de ses chances.

United Arab Emirates was passionate about Arabian horses, and
their enduring role in UAE history and heritage.
In 1969, the late Sheikh Zayed established the Royal Stables in Abu
Dhabi. It became known as a centre of Arabian horse excellence,
with a thriving program.
To promote and celebrate the Arabian horse globally, in 1994, the
late Sheikh Zayed established the President of the UAE Cup Series. It is still today considered the original
international purebred Arabian horse race series. For more than 17 years, thousands of race horse fans have
enjoyed watching the Arabian horse successfully compete in flat races all over the world.

French trainer Alban de Mieulle lifted the President
of the UAE Cup for a fourth consecutive time, thanks
to the brilliant filly Raqiyah GB (Amer), who had
already won this race last year. Ridden deep on the
rail by Olivier Peslier, the Qatari filly got the desired
split in the final straight and surged forward to win
easily from Hilal Al Zaman IRQ (Mencour), whose
time will come, and Cambrydge (Zacan El Baraka)
who confirmed that his recent victory at Dax was no
fluke. It was a happy jockey who talked to Equidia
after the race. “The filly is straight forward and I
know her well,” explained Olivier Peslier. “She has a
big heart and when she dominates like this, she really
gives everything. She did it really well, even for her reappearance. I didn’t want to be too tough with her. She is back
like she was, just like the beginning of the year.” Raqiyah had disappointed in the Emir’s Sword at Doha in the
beginning of March, the most important event for Qatari Purebred Arabians. But she is back in form and her jockey
continued: “She didn’t produce her normal turn of foot that time out and finished without her usual strength, but she
had ran a lot and it was a difficult race.” Her trainer Alban de Mieulle, who was relieved that the split came just in
time for his filly to take the lead, agreed when he said: “I have to admit; in the stand everyone was worried as to her
position on the rail. But the split came, maybe even a touch too early. She wins well and this is a nice return to form
and bodes well for the future. Having a rest for two or three months did her a world of good. She will probably run at
Newbury and then Deauville, before competing in the Qatar Arabian World Cup meeting in October.”
The Family of Prince d’Orient
Alban de Mieulle’s champion filly’s dam side is French and her great grand dam Bavette (Dunixi), who has passed
away, was the dam of champion Prince d’Orient who today stands at stud. Hence, it is no surprise to see that
Sarahmina (Tornado de Syrah), the dam of Raqiyah, is turning into a very good broodmare, as she has produced the
full sister and group 1 PA placed Tameemah GB (Amer). Note that the dam and the grand dam Amina de Pedalia
(Djelfor) were both trained by Jean-Pierre Totain.
Imbroglio ahead
The first half of the race provided a few surprises. One would have thought that the very keen Simmbad (Njewman)
would set the pace for his stable companion Nayef Al Khalidiah KSA (Câlin du Loup), but it was the latter who set
the pace. This tactic meant the end of Scoubidou de Carrère’s (Djouras Tu) hopes who had to wait behind the
leaders, instead of dominating from the front.
