TAK Smart UV System now available in Canada
Xylem Canada is proud to announce the latest addition to its WEDECO
brand UV Disinfection systems. With over 250,000 systems installed,
WEDECO products are essential components in treatment plants across
the globe.
The new WEDECO TAK 55 Smart UV system makes the disinfection of
low wastewater flows as easy and cost-effective as possible, without
compromising on quality and flexibility. Fully preassembled including
the disinfection channel, it is available in five sizes and can be customized
with different types of channel material, an optional automatic wiping
system, various cabinet designs as well as sophisticated UV monitoring
& control features.

Introducing the Flygt Dri-Prime®
Backup System
Xylem is proud to announce the introduction of the
Flygt DBS concept which allows you to replace your
typical pump station emergency backup system (a
generator and permanently installed electric sewage
pumps) with a Critically Silenced diesel Dri-Prime
pump and automatic control panel. This alternative
solution allows pumping to continue despite power,
switch gear or sewage pump failures.

New Design for the Flygt 4600 series
Compact Mixers
The Flygt 4600 submersible mixer series have
been upgraded with a
new propeller design
and larger oil housing. The new design
allows the 4600 mixers
to handle the toughest
applications involving heavy fibrous materials, without
needing additional cutting rings or seal protectors.

The elimination of micro-pollutants such as pharmaceutical and personal care products from our water
is a challenge more and more treatment facilities are
looking to address. Although they may not constitute
an immediate hazard, it is the long-term dangers that
are becoming more of a concern. The negative effects
of micro pollutants and pharmaceutical substances in
surface waters have already been proven in numerous
large-scale studies.
While conventional
treatment processes
do not remove them
completely, oxidation with ozone is
proving to be one
of the most efficient
methods of treatment.
This case study looks at a treatment plant in Bad Sassendorf, located on the Ruhr River in Germany. Due to
a high density of hospitals in the region, micropollutants and pharmaceutical products have been found in
high concentrations in the resulting sewage. Wedeco
containerized ozone generators were selected in order to add an ozonation step to the current treatment
process.
The study covers the various steps of project evaluation, ozone plant design as well as the economics for
the project.

The MAS 711: A great upgrade for
the Flygt CAS
The MAS 711 is a powerful pump monitoring device designed to log and presents the pump status
swiftly and easily. The MAS 711 monitors the pump’s
number of starts, running time, motor and bearing
temperatures, leakage, vibration, current and power
signals. Detailed operation data can be accessed via
the MAS 711 for immediate analysis using a standard
Web browser (no special software required) or SCADA
system.
