Diplomatie économique : le tourisme chinois décolle en Belgique
Le vice-Premier Ministre et Ministre des Affaires étrangères Didier Reynders se réjouit de l’annonce
faite par Liège Airport aujourd’hui du lancement de trois vols par semaine entre les grandes villes
chinoises de Shenyang, Tianjin et Xian, et Liège. C’est ainsi plus de mille touristes chinois par
semaine qui entreront en Belgique pour visiter notre pays et, depuis ce dernier, d’autres destinations
européennes voisines. Nous captons ainsi une partie d’un marché touristique chinois en pleine
extension, en capitalisant à la fois sur les atouts propres de la Belgique et sur sa situation centrale en
Europe.
L’aboutissement de ce projet est une plume à mettre aux chapeaux de Liège Airport, de la Région
Wallonne et des organismes de promotion du tourisme des trois régions, chacune étant amenée à en
bénéficier à sa manière. Il s’agit aussi d’un succès d’équipe auquel a contribué la diplomatie
économique menée par l’Ambassade de Belgique en Chine. En plus d’avoir facilité les contacts au
plus haut niveau, elle augmente considérablement sa capacité de délivrance de visas afin de faire face
à cet afflux de nouveaux visiteurs.
Cette réalisation est de bon augure dans le contexte des excellentes relations qu’entretiennent la
Belgique et la Chine, un an après la visite d’Etat du Président Xi Jinping, et avant d’autres échéances
cette année, également importantes pour leur développement.
Economische diplomatie voor vluchten van China naar Luik en meer toerisme
Vicepremier en minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Didier Reynders is tevreden dat de luchthaven van
Luik vandaag drie nieuwe wekelijkse vluchten tussen Luik en de Chinese steden Shenyang, Tianjin en
Xian heeft aangekondigd. Daardoor kunnen meer dan duizend Chinese toeristen wekelijks België
aandoen om ons land en andere Europese bestemmingen te bezoeken. Zo worden ook de troeven van
België en zijn centrale ligging in Europa gebruikt om de snel groeiende Chinese toerismemarkt aan te
spreken.
Dit project is tot stand gekomen dankzij de luchthaven van Luik, het Waalse Gewest en de diensten
voor bevordering van toerisme van de drie gewesten. De economische diplomatie van de Belgische
ambassade in China heeft bijgedragen tot het succes van het project. De ambassade heeft contacten op
het hoogste niveau makkelijker gemaakt. Ze verhoogt ook haar capaciteit om visa af te leveren zodat
de instroom van nieuwe bezoekers goed kan worden opgevangen.
Het succes van dit project vloeit voort uit de uitstekende relaties tussen België en China, één jaar na
het staatsbezoek van president Xi Jinping aan België en voor andere belangrijke evenementen dit jaar,
die even doorslaggevend zullen zijn voor de ontwikkeling van de relaties.
Economic Diplomacy for flights from China to Liège and more tourism
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders welcomes the
announcement made today by Liège Airport on three new weekly flights between Liège and the
Chinese cities of Shenyang, Tianjin and Xian. Over a thousand Chinese tourists can fly to Belgium
every week to visit our country and other nearby European destinations. In this way, the assets of
Belgium and its central location in Europe can be used to appeal to the fast growing Chinese tourism
market.
This project is a common achievement of Liège Airport, the Walloon Region and the tourism
promotion agencies of the three Belgian regions. The economic diplomacy of the Belgian Embassy in
China contributed to the success of the project. The Embassy facilitated contacts at the highest level
and is considerably increasing its capacity to deliver visas, in order to cope with the influx of new
visitors.
The success of this project can be put in the context of the excellent relations between Belgium and
China, one year after the state visit of President Xi Jinping, and before other events this year, that will
be as important for their development.
