Description of attachment and its functions
Equipement et fonctions: Description:
MEYER-Carpet Booms are attachments for
forklift trucks that replace the standard forks
and are used to transport loads in roll form.
Les Eperons MEYER en lieu et place des
fourches sont destinés à la manutention de charges cylindriques horizontales par leur centre.
The load is lifted by inserting the boom into the
central opening of the roll.
Only loads that are lying in a horizontal position
may be lifted.
La prise de la charge s’effectue par introduction
de l’eperon dans le mandrin central de la charge.

Geräte- und Funktionsbeschreibung
MEYER-Tragdorne sind Anbaugeräte für Gabelstapler, die anstelle der Gabelzinken zum Transport von rollenförmigen Lasten verwendet werden.
Die Lastaufnahme erfolgt durch das Einfahren
des Tragdorns in die Mittelöffnung der aufgerollten Last.
Eine Lastaufnahme kann nur bei horizontal liegender Lastrolle erfolgen.
Geeignete Lastarten:

aufgerollte Ware (Teppich-, Fliesrollen)
Coils (Draht-, Blech-)
Es darf nur eine freiliegende Lastrolle aufgenommen werden, da ansonsten eine
Überlastung des Dorns beim Anheben
der Last auftreten kann (Bild D, Seite 4).

Die aufzunehmende Lastrolle muß an der
Rückenplatte bzw. der Buchse anliegen,
um eine Schwerpunktsverlagerung und
damit eine mögliche Überlastung des
Staplers mit Kippgefahr zu vermeiden
(Bild E, Seite 4).

To avoid overloading the boom, only
‘free standing’ rolls may be lifted (diagram D, page 4).
To insure that the correct centre of gravity is maintained, the load must be resting
against the back structure i.e. the bushing
of the boom, this also helps prevent the
forklift truck from tipping forward (diagram E, page 4).

Montage de l’équipement
Le montage de l’équipement ne doit
être effectué que par un personnel
qualifié.
Turning the boom for mounting:
Anschlagmittel ¬ (Seile, Rundschlinge oder Haken) in eine der Montageösen ­ an der Rückenoberkante einhängen. Ein flaches Brett unterlegen. Tragdorn durch Anheben vorsichtig um 90°
in die Seitenlage drehen.
Anschlagmittel nun in die untere der Ösen einhängen und den Tragdorn vorsichtig um weitere
90° in die Anbaulage drehen.
Während des Drehvorganges darf sich
keine Person in der Nähe des Tragdorns
befinden, da dieser umschlagen kann.
Placer l’eperon dans sa position de montage:
Apply lifting tackle ¬ (rope, sling or chain with
hooks) to one of the mounting rings ­ situated
on top of the backplate. Place a wooden plank
beneath the boom and while lifting, carefully rotate through 90° until it is on it’s side.
Now also apply the lifting tackle to the lower
ring and carefully rotate the boom through a
further 90° until it’s in the mounting position.
Nobody is to be in the vacinity of the
boom during this process, as it may suddenly swing over.
Placer des vis à oeil dans les filetages de la platine, prévus à cet effet ­. Intercaler une planche
de bois et élinguer ¬, faire ainsi pivoter l’eperon
jusqu’à ce qu’il soit en position définitive de
montage.
Attention: durant cette manoeuvre, personne ne doit se trouver à proximité de
l’eperon.

Anschlagmittel ¬ (Seile, Rundschlinge oder Haken) an den Montageösen ­ einhängen und Gerät auf einer Unterlage ® (z.B. Palette) abstellen.
Vorderes Ende des Tragdorns mit einen Kantholz ³ unterfüttern, so daß der Tragdornrücken
aufrecht steht. Untere Befestigungshaken ¯ abschrauben.
Den Gabelträger so positionieren, daß die oberen
Befestigungshaken ± das Gabelträgerprofil umschließen, und die Arretierung ² in die Mittelnut des Gabelträgers einrastet.
Untere Befestigungshaken ¯ mittels Schrauben
° befestigen.
Apply lifting tackle ¬ (rope, sling or chain with
hooks) to the mounting rings ­ and lift the
boom onto a suitable base ® (i.e. pallet). Prop
up the front end of the boom with a wooden
block ³ until the backplate is in a vertical position. Unscrew and remove the lower hooks ¯.
Position the forklift truck carriage under the upper mounting hooks ± so that the centre-locking
pin ² locates in the central slot of the forklift
truck carriage. Refit the lower mounting hooks
¯ and tighten up the bolts °.
Elinguer ¬ sur les vis à oeil ­ et déposer
l’eperon sur un support ® (palette). Placer la
pointe de l’eperon sur une cale bois ³ de sorte
que la platine soit en position verticale. Dévisser
et déposer les crochets inférieurs ¯. Mettre en
place le tablier du chariot de sorte que les crochets supérieurs ± épousent correctement le
profil du tablier et que l’arrêtoir central ²
s’insère dans le cran central de celui-ci. Remettre
en place les crochets inférieurs ¯ au moyen des
vis °.

Working with the Attachment
Observe the operating instructions and
safety precautions stated for the forklift
truck.
Das Anbaugerät darf maximal mit der auf dem
Anbaugeräte-Fabrikschild genannten Tragfähigkeit, bezogen auf den genannten Lastschwerpunktabstand, belastet werden.
Werden am Gabelstapler auf dem Tragfähigkeitsschild für Stapler mit Anbaugeräten reduzierte Werte angegeben, sind hiermit die max.
Belastungswerte vorgegeben.
The attachment may only carry loads with the
maximum load-carrying capacity relating to its
load centre, both of which are stated on the
product identification-plate.
If lower load-carrying capacities are stated on
the load-capacity plate for a forklift truck with
attachment, then these are the max. load capacities.
Geeignete Lastarten und deren Handhabung sind
im Kapitel:
‘Geräte- und Funktionsbeschreibung’ (siehe Seite 2) beschrieben.
Suitable load types and their handling can be
found in chapter:
‘Description of Attachment and its functions’
(see page 2).
Vor Arbeitsbeginn ist das Anbaugerät auf Beschädigungen zu überprüfen. Werden Schäden
festgestellt, darf mit dem Anbaugerät nicht gearbeitet werden. Die vorgesetzte Stelle ist zu informieren.
Before using the attachment, ensure that it is in
proper working order and inspect it for damages. If damage is detected, then the attachment
must not be used. Inform the appropriate supervisor responsible.
Nach einer Havarie muß unmittelbar eine
Überprüfung der Bauteile durch eine
sachkundige Person erfolgen. Verformungen und Rißbildungen können zu Folgeschäden führen.
In order to avoid further damage occuring
after an accident, a trained person
must thoroughly inspect all parts of the
basic unit for distortion and fractures.
Dangers caused by false handling

In den Bildern D, E sind Situationen dargestellt,
die als Anbaugerätemanipulationen nicht zugelassen sind.

(D) Es ist nicht erlaubt, eingekeilte Lasten aus
einem Stapel aufzunehmen, da hierdurch das
Anbaugerät überlastet wird.
(E) Die Last muß zum sicheren Transport am
Rücken bzw. an der Einschrumpfbuchse anliegend aufgenommen und transportiert werden.
Wird die Nennlast mit einem vergrößerten Lastschwerpunktabstand aufgenommen, ist das Anbaugerät überlastet, und für den Gabelstapler besteht Kippgefahr.
The diagrams D, E show situations in which the
attachment is being improperly manipulated.
(D) It is not allowed to lift loads that are wedged
under other loads, as this will overload the attachment.
(E) To ensure safe transportation, the load must
rest against the backplate i.e the bushing of the
boom.
The nominal load, if carried too far forward, will
overload the attachment, because the centre of
gravity also moves forward and can cause the
forklift truck to tip up.

Travail avec l’équipement
Toutes les consignes de sécurité visuelles,
celles propres à l’entreprise et les consignes d’utilisation du chariot doivent être
respectées.
La charge maximale autorisée est celle indiquée
sur la plaque de l’équipement ou celle inférieure
indiquée sur la plaque du chariot élévateur en
tenant compte du centre de gravité de la charge.
Les types de charges à manutentionner figurent
au chapitre ‘Description de l’équipement et de
ses fonctions (page 2).
Avant la mise en service le bon état de
l’équipement et de ses fonctions doit être obligatoirement contrôlé. La mise en service doit être
différée si un défaut est constaté.
En avertir le service compétent.
Après quelque incident ou accident, un
contrôle des pièces constitutives de
l’équipement doit immédiatement être effectué par une personne qualifié. Déformations et fissures peuvent être source
d’accidents graves.
Dangers dûs à une mauvaise utilisation
Les figures D, E représentent les manoeuvres
strictement interdites.
(D) La prise de charges situées sous d’autres
charges provoque la surcharge de l’eperon.
(E) La sécurité du transport des charges exige
que celles-ci soient prises au contact de la platine de l’eperon.
Dans le cas contraire le déport du centre de gravité de la charge surcharge l’eperon et risque de
provoquer le basculement du chariot.

sind zur Erreichung der erforderlichen Vorspannung mit einem Drehmomentschlüssel anzuziehen. Die erforderlichen Anzieh-Drehmomente,
geordnet nach Schraubengröße und Festigkeitsklasse, sind in der nachstehenen Tabelle aufgeführt.
When tightening cylinder and hexagon type
bolts, the correct torque must be obtained by
using a torque-wrench.
The torque necessary for bolts of different sizes
and strength classes, is listed in the table below.
