For exchange students present during the first semester only, transcripts are sent in January. Grading System Courses are assessed on a grading scale from 1 to 20, with 10 as the minimum passing grade. Assessment is carried out in various ways: written and oral tests, projects, group work, written reports and industrial work placement evaluations. Involvement in student life is also taken into consideration. A grade between 8 and 10 typically gives the possibility of a make-up exam at the end of the semester to try to improve the average to 10 and pass. A jury decides on a student to student basis whether or not to give this opportunity. The ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits and grades are detailed in the academic transcripts for each course. ECTS provides information on the student’s academic performance in addition to what is provided on the institution’s grade report. It does not replace the local grade. It just explains the student’s performance by comparing his/her results to that of his/her peers. ECTS Grade A Equivalent ENIM grade (out of 20) Explanations >=16 EXCELLENT - outstanding performance with only minor errors B >=14 et <16 VERY GOOD - above the average standard but with some errors C >=12 et <14 GOOD - generally sound work with a number of notable errors D >=10.5 et <12 SATISFACTORY - fair but with significant shortcomings E >=10 et <10.5 SUFFICIENT - performance meets the minimum criteria FX >=8 et <10 F <8 FAIL - some more work required before the credit can be awarded FAIL - considerable further work is required Requirements to Obtain Diploma A B2-level (785 TOEIC score) in English is required at the end of the 8th semester. To obtain their Diploma, students must obtain passing grades in courses and industrial work placements, a score of at least 785 on the TOEIC, a B2 level in English, and a B1 level in a 2 nd foreign language (French as a Foreign Language for exchange students). Diploma Fee: about 50€. Make-up exams: Exchange students are required to stay until the end of scheduled exams. Make-up exams may be offered to students with insufficient results. USEFUL INFORMATION International Relations Website: http://www.enim.fr/portail/relationinter.php Accommodation Through an agreement with the Centre Régional des OEuvres Universitaires et Scolaires (CROUS), we offer exchange students a choice of affordable student housing. The prices range from about 150€ to 420€ a month. Other options include private dormitories, room or apartment rental or living with roommates. Students are required to take an apartment insurance policy before moving in to their accommodation. Cost of Living Students will need approximately 2000€ upon their arrival in France to cover health insurance, apartment deposit and insurance, first month’s rent, long stay visa, etc. There are no tuition fees for exchange students. Students should anticipate a monthly budget of approximately 800€. A meal at the University Restaurant costs about 3.25€. Health Insurance Students from outside of the European Union are required to sign up for health insurance, which costs about 215€ per year and covers 50 to 70% of medical expenses. Optionally, students may take an additional complementary healthcare plan to cover the remaining fees. There are two organizations to choose from: MGEL (http://www.mgel.fr) and LMDE (http://www.lmde.com). Visa The visa process before arrival in France is taken care of by the organization CampusFrance. Once in France, our office will help students complete the process by validating their visa through the Office Français de l’Immigration et de l’Intégration (OFII).
