PLAN NORD CONTRIBUTES TO COGEP’S SUCCESSES
QUEBECOIS MAINTENANCE SOFTWARE FIRM SIGNS NEW CONTRACTS TOTALING $1 MILLION
Quebec, May 1st 2012 – COGEP, a Québec City-based company and Canadian leader in specialized software for
maintenance management, announced the signing of new agreements for the use of its world-class software, Guide Ti,
at three mining sector subcontractors: Procon Mining & Tunnelling Ltd., Metso Minerals Canada Inc. and Orbit Garant
Drilling Inc.
Capitalizing on opportunities resulting from the Plan Nord, COGEP, present in the mining sector for more than 17 years,
develops maintenance management software that enables about thirty mining sites across Canada to reduce their
production costs and parts procurement delivery times. For the first time, COGEP will assist subcontractors that provide
services to Quebec’s Plan Nord mining projects and other mining projects around the world.
These contracts totaling $1 million will enable three fast-growing companies and industry leaders to improve their
efficiency and reduce their operating costs.
Orbit Garant Drilling Inc. is one of the most important Canadian surface and underground drilling services companies in
North America. It provides services to mining companies at all stages of operations: exploration, development and
production. Designing and exploiting its own earth boring machines, the company possesses 219 drilling machines and
1,100 employees.
Procon Mining & Tunnelling Ltd. is a British Columbian company that provides infrastructure services for mining
development and operations for more than twenty years. By providing support for the planning, design, mobilization,
construction and layout of mining sites, Procon Mining & Tunnelling provides guidance to a mine from the latter’s
startup phase through to the cessation of all mining activities. Guide Ti enables consolidation of maintenance of all
equipment spread across the 10 projects currently managed by Procon Mining & Tunnelling in British Columbia,
Saskatchewan, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories.
Metso Minerals Canada Inc. is a division of Metso Corporation of Finland, the top supplier internationally of technical
equipment solutions and services for the mining industry. Guide Ti enables the METSO Services division to improve
maintenance planning and reduce downtime caused by broken equipment and the parts replacement process. “Due to
METSO Corporation’s presence around the world, Guide Ti will be used in Mexican, Swedish and Russian mines.
Consequently, we’ll have to have our software translated into Swedish and Russian over the coming months to respond
to the international needs of our client,” explained Michel Fournier, President of COGEP.
As a result of its positioning and expertise in the Canadian mining sector, COGEP doubled sales of its software over the
past year and capitalized on the expertise acquired in Quebec to extend its business elsewhere in Canada as well as in
Africa. In addition to benefiting from all of these new projects stemming from the Plan Nord, marketing efforts began in
South America this year with the company’s participation in the ExpoMin international trade fair in Santiago, Chile.

ans, a développé un logiciel de gestion de la maintenance qui permet à une trentaine de sites miniers à travers le
Canada de réduire leur coût de production et leur délai d’approvisionnement de pièces. Le logiciel servira pour la
première fois à des entreprises qui offrent leurs services aux projets miniers du Plan Nord et ailleurs à travers le monde.
Ces ententes, totalisant un million de dollars, permettront à trois entreprises en pleine croissance et chefs de file de leur
secteur, d’améliorer leur efficacité et réduire leur coût d’opération :
Forage Orbit Garant inc. est l’une des plus importantes entreprises canadiennes de service de forage de surface et
souterrain en Amérique du nord. Elle dessert les sociétés minières aux étapes d’exploration, de mise en valeur et de
production. À la fois conceptrice et utilisatrice de ses propres foreuses, l’entreprise compte 219 appareils de forage et
plus de 1 100 employés.
Procon Mining & Tunnelling Ltd est une entreprise de la Colombie Britannique qui fournit des services d'infrastructure
pour le développement et l’exploitation des mines depuis plus de 20 ans. Structurée pour supporter la planification, la

solutions d’équipements technologiques et de services pour l'industrie minière. Le logiciel Guide Ti, permettra à METSO
Services d’améliorer la planification de sa maintenance et de diminuer ses temps d’arrêts causés par les bris de pièces
et par le processus de remplacement. « En raison de la présence de METSO Corporation à travers le monde, Guide Ti
sera maintenant utilisé dans les mines mexicaines, suédoises et russes. On devra donc au cours des prochains mois
traduire notre logiciel en suédois et en russe afin de répondre aux besoins internationaux de notre client» explique
Michel Fournier, président de COGEP.
Grâce à son positionnement et son expertise sur le marché minier canadien, COGEP a doublé ses ventes de logiciels au
cours de la dernière année, et profite de l’expertise acquise au Québec pour exporter ailleurs au Canada, mais
également en Afrique. En plus de profiter de tous les nouveaux projets en provenance du Plan Nord, des efforts de
commercialisation en Amérique du Sud ont débuté cette année avec une première présence à la foire commerciale
internationale ExpoMin à Santiago au Chili.
