Originally from Corner Brook Newfoundland,
Barry holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from
Memorial University of Newfoundland. Barry
retired from Parks Canada Agency in 2008 after
37 years. He has held several senior management
positions within Parks Canada both for Eastern
Newfoundland and Northern New Brunswick
Field Units including Kouchibouguac National
Park of Canada. For nine years Barry was a
board member with the Villa Marie, Saint-Louisde-Kent and currently Board Chair of the Lions
Rexton Nursing Home in Kent County. Barry is
Chair of the management Committee with
Enterprise Kent and he is active with a number
of provincial committees relating to tourism,
environmental protection and health and
wellness. His present position as Manager of the
‘SeaWind Buffalo Ranch’ near Bouctouch is a
new after retirement life experience. Community
and public relations, as well as working closely
with the private sector, provincial and federal
government agencies and aboriginal
communities have been the cornerstones of his
professional and personal success as a public
servant and continue to be part of my daily
activities as a retired federal public servant.
Originaire de Corner Brook, Terre-Neuve, Barry
détient un baccalauréat en sciences de la
Memorial University of Newfoundland. Il s’est
retiré de l’Agence des parcs du Canada en 2008
après 37 années de service. Il a occupé plusieurs
postes de direction au sein de Parcs Canada où il
a travaillé dans des unités de gestion de l’est de
Terre-Neuve et du nord du Nouveau-Brunswick,
incluant le Parc national Kouchibouguac du
Canada. Pendant neuf ans, Barry a fait partie du
conseil de Villa Marie, Saint-Louis-de-Kent, et il
est président du conseil d’administration du
Lions Rexton Nursing Home dans le comté de
Kent. Barry occupe la présidence du comité de
gestion d’Entreprises Kent et il fait partie de
plusieurs comités provinciaux sur le tourisme, la
protection de l’environnement et la santé et le
bien-être. Il est présentement directeur du «
SeaWind Buffalo Ranch », près de Bouctouche.
C’est une toute nouvelle expérience pour lui!
Son travail dans le domaine des communautés,
des relations publiques, du secteur privé, des
agences gouvernementales provinciales et
fédérales et des communautés autochtones
représente la pierre angulaire de son succès
professionnel et personnel à titre de
fonctionnaire. Même s’il est maintenant
fonctionnaire à la retraite, son implication se
poursuit!
