Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris 2016:
An incredibly deep elite field for the 40th edition
Nine runners under 2h07!
The 40th edition of the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris promises to be exciting! Nine runners having
personal bests of under 2h07 will line-up for the start on the Champs-Elysées next 3 April. Kenyan Mark
Korir, winner in 2015 with an excellent time of 2h05m49s; will defend his title.
His compatriot Bernard Koech, who set an amazing time of 2h04m53s in Dubai 2013, will clearly be his most
serious rival. Other runners to keep a close eye on: Kenyans Laban Korir (2h06m05s), Stephen Chemlany
(2h06m24s), Alfers Lagat (2h06m48s), Micah Kogo (2h06m56s) and Felix Kiprotich (2h06m59s).
The Kenyan contingent will have to pay close attention to Ethiopians Abraham Feleke, fifth in the 2011
Boston Marathon with a time of 2h06m13s and Seboka Tola, third in Paris last year in 2h06m17s.
A battle between the Kenyans and Ethiopians
The female category of the 2016 Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris will also be very competitive. Like in
the men’s division, the winner of the 2015 edition will be back to defend her title: Ethiopia’s Meseret
Mengistu, who won in a time of 2h23m26s, will have to battle with Kenya’s Georgina Rono, who holds the
record time of 2h21m39s, Visiline Jepkesho, 2h24m44s, and Rebeca Chesire, 2h25m22s. Martha Komu,
winner of the 2008 race through the French capital (2h25m33s) will try to be in the mix for a top result.
As a reminder, the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris records are held by Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele in
2h05m04s (2014) and Boru Tadese in 2h21m04s (2013).
