Celebrating Blessed John Paul II
Saturday, October 22nd has been designated as the feast of Blessed John Paul II. In
recognition of the late pope, the diocese will be showing the movie, Pope John Paul II,
starring Academy Award winning actor Jon Voight as the pope. (This movie was made in
cooperation with the Vatican.) The movie will be shown on Saturday, October 22nd at
Blessed Sacrament (321 Tollgate Rd E, Cornwall) beginning at 7:00 p.m. Admission is
FREE! Go to www.alexandria-cornwall.ca to view the movie trailer. In addition, that
weekend many parishes will be selling the Souvenir Book that was put together for the
Beatification of John Paul II. The book includes a biography of John Paul II, texts, articles
and rare colour photographs.
The next book club meeting will be held November 3rd at St. Peter’s Church beginning at
7:00 p.m. The book selection for November is the fictional novel: The Death of a Pope by
Piers Paul Read. It is a faith-driven theological thriller about Juan Uriarte, a handsome and
outspoken Spanish ex-priest, who seems to be the model of nonviolence and compassion for
the poor and downtrodden. However, he soon finds himself on trial, accused of terrorist
activities? Piers Paul Read is a best-selling novelist, writer, and playright as well as an
officer in the Catholic Writers' Guild of England and Wales. Everyone is welcome to join

Mess’AJE an English Bible Study: The first threshold of Mess’AJE, a catechesis for

Cordial invitation to a Healing Mass to be held on Thursday evening, October 27 ,
beginning at 19:30 pm at Holy Cross Parish in Cornwall. The celebration will be in
French. There will be time for adoration, praise, anointing and the Eucharist. A
priest will be available for the sacrament of reconciliation.
The Revised Roman Missal
Bishop Paul-André will continue his fall series of talks on Thursday, October 13,
2011. Beginning this Advent, changes are being made to the Missal. Bishop
Paul-André will discuss what these changes are and the reasons for the changes. His
English talk will take place at St. Peter’s followed by a social time. His French talk
will take place on Thursday, October 27 at Ste-Thérèse at 7:00 p.m.

Seigneur, Toi qui es toujours présent sur la route de chacun, Toi dont l’amour féconde nos
gestes quotidiens, Tourne vers moi Ton Visage, Sois mon fidèle compagnon tout au long
de mes voyages. Accorde-moi de bien user de ma liberté et de garder le sens de mes
responsabilités. Donne-moi, même si parfois cela me coûte, d’observer scrupuleusement le
code de la route, par respect pour la vie que Tu m’as donnée et pour celle de mes frères, qui
est sacrée. Que je ne fasse jamais de ma voiture un char d’assaut ou une imbécile armure,
pour me vanter de quelque performance ou assouvir mon instinct de puissance. Qu’elle soit
un simple outil au service de mon travail et pour le plaisir de mes loisirs. Accorde-moi,
comme le Bon Samaritain, de savoir porter secours à celui qui en a besoin et de faire un
détour pour aider mon voisin. Accorde-moi l’humour et la patience dans les
encombrements et, dans un beau paysage, la grâce de l’émerveillement, l’humilité pour
accepter mes propres limites et la sobriété quand quelqu’un m’invite. Rappelle-moi que je
ne suis qu’un pauvre voyageur qui roule vers Ton ultime rendez-vous mais ne doit pas, de
lui-même, en devancer l’heure.
