FCC INFORMATION
This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules for the
United States. The telephone jack used on the CrystalTone Ringer
complies with FCC Part 68, Subpart F rules and regulations and is
an RJ11C. A label is located on the underside of the ringer
containing the FCC registration number and the Ringer
Equivalence Number (REN). You must, upon request, provide the
following information to your local telephone company: USOC
Jack Type: RJ11; REN: 1.0B.
The REN is used to determine the quantity of devices which may
be connected to the telephone line. Excessive RENs on the
telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to
an incoming call. In most areas, the sum of RENs should not
exceed five (5.0). For more information, contact the local
telephone company.
Should you experience trouble with this telephone equipment,
please contact Ultratec National Service Center, 5901 Research
Park Blvd., Madison, WI 53719. Email: [email protected]. For

operation of your equipment.
INDUSTRY CANADA WARNINGS
NOTICE: The Industry Canada Label identifies certified equipment.
This certification means that the equipment meets
telecommunications network protective, operational and safety
requirements as prescribed in the appropriate Terminal
Equipment Technical Requirements document(s). The
Department does not guarantee the equipment will operate to the
user's satisfaction.
Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is
permissible to be connected to the facilities of the local
telecommunications company. The equipment must also be
installed using an acceptable method of connection. The customer
should be aware that compliance with the above conditions may
not prevent degradation of service in some situations.
Repairs to certified equipment should be coordinated by a
representative designated by the supplier. Any repairs or
alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment
malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to
request the user to disconnect the equipment.
Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical
ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines and
internal metallic water pipe system, if present, are connected
together. This precaution may be particularly important in rural
areas.
CAUTION: Users should not attempt to make such connections
themselves, but should contact the appropriate electric inspection
authority, or electrician, as appropriate.
NOTICE: The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) assigned to each
terminal device provides an indication of the maximum number of
terminals allowed to be connected to a telephone interface. The
termination on an interface may consist of any combination of
devices subject only to the requirement that the sum of the Ringer
Equivalence Number of all the devices does not exceed 5.

AVIS D'INDUSTRIE CANADA

OVERVIEW
INSTALLATION
The Ultratec CrystalTone Ringer lets you know when you receive a call.
Use it in addition to your telephone or in another part of your home or
office to help you hear when the telephone rings.
The CrystalTone Ringer has several features to make hearing the
telephone ring as carefree as possible. Slide the VOLUME control to the
right to increase the ring volume. This can be set as loud as 95 dB. For an
even greater boost, use an optional AC adapter to achieve a ring volume of
up to 100 dB. Depress the ON/OFF button to turn the ring volume on.
Even with the ringer turned off, the Ring Flasher lights when a call
comes in. The adjustable TONE ensures a clear ring at various
frequencies. Slide the TONE control to the right for a higher-pitched ring.
You can even select from four distinct RING PATTERNS. Select the
combination of RING PATTERN and TONE that is right for you.
Step 1 - Selecting the Location
CAUTION! Do not plug the CrystalTone Ringer into any telephone line
other than a typical, analog telephone line. Connection to a digital system
may damage the ringer or the telephone system and will void your warranty.
Set up the CrystalTone Ringer in a place where: (a) There is an electrical
outlet nearby (if using an optional AC adapter). (b) There is a phone jack
nearby. Cords should not lie across any walkway. (c) The surface that the
ringer is set on, or mounted to, is stable and secure. (d) The area is
protected from excessive heat or humidity.
Step 2 - Installing the Batteries
CAUTION! Disconnect the telephone line and the power adapter
before opening the battery compartment.
Use 4, AA alkaline batteries. The battery compartment is on the bottom of
the CrystalTone Ringer.
1. Unplug both the telephone line and the power
adapter.
2. Use something small like the tip of a pencil to push
in the release on the battery cover. The release is
marked by the
symbol.
3. Hold down the release with the pencil and slide the
cover toward the outer edge of the ringer.
4. Look for a label inside of the battery compartment
illustrating how the batteries are arranged. Using the
label as a guide, place the batteries into the
compartment.
5. Replace the battery cover.

jack on the bottom of the CrystalTone Ringer and the
other end into the wall phone jack.
2. If using an optional AC adapter, plug the AC adapter
cord into the round power jack on the side of the
ringer. Plug the other end into the wall outlet.
3. Set the CrystalTone Ringer on a sturdy surface such
as a desk. It may be placed on its side or flat.
Mounting on a Wall
Use the previous instructions with the following exceptions:
1. Select a spot within a few inches of the wall phone jack.
2. Using the template on next page, drill 2 holes that are 2.3 inches apart.
Use a 3/16" drill bit.
3. With a hammer, tap the plastic wall anchors into holes until flush with
wall.
4. Using a Phillips head screw driver, insert screws
into the anchors until head of screw is 1/4" from wall.
5. Align holes on back of CrystalTone Ringer with
screws and hang the ringer on the wall.
Use 3/16" drill bit.
