General
Increase the retention of cadets – Appropriate Development Period (DP).
The sqn CO is the final authority for assignment of the proficiency level in which a new cadet is to be registered.
Upon joining, a cadet may be registered directly in proficiency level one, two or three.
The assignment of the appropriate level is made by conducting an initial assessment that takes into consideration the following factors:
age, peers and experience with other youth or community organizations.
5- Under no circumstances is a cadet to be registered directly in level four or in level five.

Note 1: Cadets may be registered in a lower level if the initial assessment concludes that it would be beneficial for them.
Note 2: Information must be registered in Fortress as per page A1-5/8 Para 13.
Note 3: Cadets who join at a later stage of the TY will receive the remaining training/POs with the other cadets of that same level and, if
possible, they should be offered opportunities to complete all mandatory activities they missed, before the end of the TY.
Note 4: Cadets registered directly in level two or in level three shall receive, at a minimum, the following training:
a. Positive Social Relationships for Youth;
b. CF and CCO ranks;
c. basic drill movements;
d. ways to address superiors; and
e. specific training to ensure the cadet interacts with other members of the sqn in a capable and safe manner.
Note 5: In addition to receiving the training for all items in Note 4 above, cadets registered directly in level three at a later stage of the
TY shall participate in the annual ceremonial review and they shall also complete, at a minimum, the mandatory periods of
PO 303 Perform the role of a team leader, PO 308 Direct a squad prior to a parade and PO 309 Instruct a lesson before entering
level four.
Note 6: The locally developed training program shall include, but is not limited to the following subjects:
a. cadets shall receive training for all items in Note 4 above; and
b. specific training in order to allow the cadet to carry out the tasks that will eventually be assigned to him.
Note 7: For cadets registered directly in level one, two or three at a later stage of the TY, if opportunities to complete missed POs for the
level in which the cadet is registered are not possible before the end of the TY, a waiver shall be given for those POs.
Note 8: Eligible for the same summer training courses available to other cadets of the level in which they are registered.
Note 9: Eligible for the same summer training courses available to level two and level three cadets.
Note 10: Eligible for a type 2 training support staff cadet position after they have completed a summer training course.

Généralités
Augmenter la rétention des cadets – Période de développement (PD) appropriée.
Le cmdt d’esc est l’autorité finale pour l’assignation du niveau de qualification dans lequel un nouveau cadet sera inscrit.
Lorsqu’il se joint, un cadet peut être inscrit directement au niveau de qualification un, deux ou trois.
L’assignation du niveau approprié est faite en effectuant une évaluation initiale qui prendra en considération les éléments suivants :
l’âge, les pairs et l’expérience avec d’autres organisations de jeunesse ou communautaires.
5- Dans aucune circonstance un cadet ne pourra être inscrit directement au niveau quatre ou au niveau cinq.

Note 1: Les cadets peuvent être inscrits à un niveau plus bas si l’évaluation initiale détermine que ceci serait bénéfique pour eux.
Note 2: Information doit être inscrite dans Forteresse selon page A1-5/8 para 13.
Note 3: Les cadets inscrits à une période plus avancée de l’AI recevront le reste de l’instruction/des OREN avec les cadets de ce même
niveau et si possible, ils devraient bénéficier d’occasions pour compléter toutes les activités obligatoires qu’ils ont manquées,
avant la fin de l’AI.
Note 4: Les cadets inscrits directement au niveau deux ou au niveau trois devront recevoir, au minimum, l’instruction suivante :
a. relations sociales positives pour la jeunesse;
b. grades des FC et des OCC;
c. mouvements de base d’exercice militaire;
d. manière de s’adresser aux supérieurs; et
e. formation spécifique afin de s’assurer que le cadet puisse interagir avec les autres membres de l’esc d’une manière
compétente et sécuritaire.
Note 5: En plus de recevoir l’instruction pour tous les items de la note 4 ci-dessus, les cadets inscrits directement au niveau trois à une
période plus avancée de l’AI devront participer à la cérémonie de la revue annuelle et ils devront également compléter, au
minimum, les périodes d’instruction obligatoires de l’OREN 303 Exercer le rôle d’un chef d’équipe, l’OREN 308 Diriger une
escouade avant un rassemblement et l’OREN 309 Enseigner une leçon avant d’entreprendre le niveau quatre.
Note 6: Le programme d’instruction développé localement doit inclure, mais n’est pas limité aux sujets suivants :
a. les cadets recevront l’instruction pour tous les items de la note 4 ci-dessus; et
b. formation spécifique afin de permettre au cadet d’accomplir les tâches qui lui seront éventuellement assignées.
Note 7: Pour les cadets inscrits directement au niveau un, deux ou trois à une période plus avancée de l’AI, si des opportunités pour
compléter les OREN manqués pour le niveau dans lequel le cadet est inscrit ne sont pas possibles avant la fin de l’AI, une
dérogation sera octroyée pour ces OREN.
Note 8: Éligibles aux mêmes cours d’instruction d’été offerts aux autres cadets du niveau d’instruction dans lequel ils sont inscrits.
Note 9: Éligibles aux mêmes cours d’instruction d’été offerts aux cadets du niveau deux et du niveau trois.
Note 10: Éligibles à un poste de cadet-cadre type 2 soutien à l’instruction après avoir complété un cours d’instruction d’été.
