Specialising for nearly forty years in manufacturing engineered wooden products, the Belgian company Trabelbo (Belgian Woodworks) initiated in 2006 a new turning point in its production by developing a unique product of its kind: the first display stand composed of MDF, able to be assembled in a few minutes. Thanks to the interlocking pieces, cardboard, screws and nails are obsolete and the product is guaranteed to last for a long time. In other words, a small revolution for a display stand. In an ultra compact packaging, the Trabelbo display stands are easily transported by our marketing people who can propose the real object and demonstrate its effectiveness to the client. This advantage completely changes the work of the marketing people who are thus able to bring a customised display stand to the point of sale which can then be quickly assembled, explains Pierre Maréchal, Managing Director of the company. Convinced that the future of his company’s production lies in high-performance design, the director would like to devote more means to the research department which at the moment constitutes one person. It is obvious that design, in the most complete sense of the term, allied to well though out aesthetics, stimulate sales in a much more effective way, insists the director. We work for big brands, like MasterFood (M&M’s…) or Lilliputiens and Décofun, who pass orders for the production of display stands which reflect their image and respect their graphic codes. They must be immediately seduced by our pilot studies. Pierre Maréchal, a trained engineer, reinforces the design process by following in the tradition of his predecessor and founder of the company, David Enthoven, a designer. Trabelbo, who never cease to conquer new niches, can already count selective collaborations with designers and three models created internally to their credit. Along the same lines as MDF which is durable and easily assembled, an occasional piece of furniture for a child’s bedroom will shortly take its place within the catalogue. In future, the company strategy will be to count on the research department and to increase its concerns with ecological matters by preferring, among others, solvent free water based paints. Two objectives which will allow Trabelbo to pursue its priority : strengthen its presence on the belgo-french market. S.K. Société / Company : Trabelbo S.A.
