Teaching notes
The aim of this activity is for students to read and hear some model phrases
on the topic of work experience, as well as to focus on pronunciation.

Print two copies of the phrases on pp.1-2, keeping one for your reference
and cutting up the other copy.

Hand out one phrase to each student and give them time to work out the
meaning of their phrase, using dictionaries if needed. Remind them to look
for key words and tenses.

Once they have worked out their sentence, get them to stand up. When
everyone is standing up the activity will begin.

However, those who are very quick to stand up can be offered the chance to
sit down again and take an additional sentence to work on if available
(depending on numbers in your class). Although this means more work for
them it also offers a greater chance of winning the activity!

From your own copy of the complete list of sentences, choose one at
random and read its English translation, crossing it off the list.

The student who has the matching French sentence needs to read it out
loud. This gives you a chance to check and correct pronunciation.

Assuming it is the correct match they sit down and are out. If they are
holding more than one sentence they remain standing and continue.

Keep going until you have one person left standing. That’s the winner!
Categorising sheet
Copy the worksheet on p.3 so that each student has a copy of the sentences
from the previous activity.
They then colour code the sentences, giving them a bank of ideas to draw on
for their own writing or speaking.
