This year’s campaign focuses on meal planning and preparing healthy foods for the family. The Eastern Ontario Health Unit offers are variety of resources! Simply check off all items that interest you and fax your completed form back to the Eastern Ontario Health Unit at 613-933-5121. LUNCH ‘N LEARNS A registered dietitian from the EOHU will visit your workplace free of charge to speak on the following topics: Meal planning solutions made easy If you’re tired of hearing “What’s for dinner?”, then this workshop is for you! A dietitian will provide you with an overview of Canada’s Food Guide, the importance of regular meals and snacks, what constitutes a healthy meal or snack, interactive menu planning exercises, as well as a recipe demonstration and tasting. Celebrate Food… from field to table! (Presentation from Dietitians of Canada) A registered dietitian from the EOHU will provide you with information regarding Canadian food (farming, organic foods, local foods, cost of healthy eating, processed foods, food labels, regulations, etc.). Depending on your time and needs, you can request either the full presentation or a condensed version. RESOURCES You can order the following resources for your nutrition-themed bulletin board or to distribute to employees. Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide (number of copies EN: _____ FR: _____) Learning more about Canada’s Food Guide will help you and your family know how much food you need, what types of foods are better for you, and the importance of physical activity in your day (Health Canada). Ontario Fruits & Vegetables Availability Guide (number of copies EN: _____ FR: _____) This tool will help you know when your Ontario fresh fruits and vegetables are available. Menu planner (number of copies EN: _____ FR: _____) This tool, developed by Dairy Farmers of Canada, will help you plan your menus and provide choices from each of the four food groups. Great to stick on your fridge! OTHER Workplace make-over Meet with a Registered Dietitian who can recommend different ways of supporting healthy eating choices at work (e.g. educational activities, healthy choices in cafeterias, vending machines, healthy choices during meetings). Eat Smart!
