Pond Mapping work party
On Saturday April 16. 2016 I am requesting some assistance in an effort to determine the depth
soundings at various points in the pond. Have a number of canoes available and one portable fish
finder/depth sounder. So if people can come out with GSP, compass or portable fish finder, canoe that
would be great but no motors are allowed on the pond. Plan to get things started about 09:30.
Please let me know if you can make it out that day weather permitting. If you do not have any gear we
could still use some help for this event.

Club member reminders
As you should all be aware all members of the club require to put in ten hours of work with the club so
that can retain your membership as well as for those who hunt and fish you are quite aware of this and
the club id enforcing this policy for all for this year. There is a requirement for the club to repair or

refurbish some of the trophies that the club has and this is mainly to add another layer of wood to the
base of some trophies as the bases that are there are full of names of the previous winners of said
trophy. If there is anyone who would wish to take on this project as you have the tools and the skills and
would like this to be your hours. Please contact Maj Denis Giroux at local 3215 so that this might be coordinated.

Children’s Trout Fishing Derby
On Saturday May 7, 2016 the Base Borden Rod and Gun Club will again be hosting the Children’s Trout
Fishing Derby at the Catawampus Pond.
This derby is open to the Children of all Base Personnel as well as members of the Base Borden Rod and
Gun Club.
Start time of the derby will be at 08:00 hours with registration by age category (name and phone
number) for each contestant taking place at the Sugar Shack, commencing at 08:00 hours. There will be
volunteers walking around the pond and they will weigh the Rainbow, Brown or Speckled Trout caught
by the children and record the weight on the registration sheet.
Fishing will run until 11:30 hours and prizes will be awarded at 12:00 hours at the Sugar Shack. There
will be three prizes awarded in each of the age categories, namely up to 6 years, 7 to 11 years, and 12 to
18 years of age for those fisherpersons catching the largest Rainbow, Brown or Speckled Trout. Please
note that only the weights of the Rainbow, Brown or Speckled Trout are eligible to be recorded in
determining the allocation of prizes.

The Club will be providing complimentary beverages and a choice of either a hot dog or hamburger to all
contestants and their parents.
While the children do not require a fishing licence, they must follow the Province of Ontario fishing
regulations which state that a maximum of two Trout only are to be in their possession. An idea would
be to have the children use barbless hooks so that the smaller catch can safely be returned to the pond,
thereby keeping only that record breaking Trout. The pond will be stocked with lots of Rainbow, Brown
and Speckled trout, so come out with your fishing lines and some wildly, wiggly, worms, NO live bait is to
be used, (reference should be made to the 2016 Ontario Fishing regulations Page 10 subsection “BAIT”
for detailed explanation of excluded live bait) to hopefully catch some fish and have a lot of fun.

As a final note, the pond will be closed to all fishing from the date of stocking until the day of the
Children’s Trout Fishing Derby and we would ask all Sportspeople to refrain from fishing the pond until
after the derby.

Bonjour aux membres du CCPBB

Le samedi 16 avril 2016 je demande de l’aide dans un effort pour déterminer la profondeur à divers
points dans l'étang. Nous allons avoir besoin d’un certain nombre de canos disponibles et un détecteur
de poissons portable. Donc, si les gens peuvent venir avec GPS, boussole ou détecteur de poissons
portable, canot, ce serait génial, mais pas de moteur sont autorisés sur l’étang. Veuillez arriver pour
09h30.
S'il vous plaît laissez-moi savoir si vous pouvez vous présenter et l’activité aura lieu si la météo le jour le
permet. Si vous ne disposez pas d'un engin ou d’outils, nous pourrions toujours utiliser un peu d'aide
pour cet événement.

Rappels pour les membres du Club
Comme vous devez tous être conscients de tous les membres du club ont besoin de mettre en dix
heures de travail avec le club de sorte que puisse conserver votre adhésion, ceux qui chassent et
pêchent nous appliqueront cévèrement cette politique. Il y a une exigence pour le club pour réparer ou
rénover certains des trophées que le club a et cela est principalement d'ajouter un autre étage de bois à
la base de certains trophées dont les bases sont pleines de noms et qu’il ne reste plus de place. S'il y a
quelqu'un qui voudrait prendre ce projet et que vous avez les outils et les compétences et que vous
souhaitez que cela soit vos heures. S'il vous plaît communiquer avec le Maj Denis Giroux au local 3215
de sorte que cela pourrait être coordonné.

Tournoi de pêche à la truite des enfants
Le Club de chasse et pêche de Borden organise encore une fois le Tournoi de pêche à la truite des
enfants. Le tournoi au-ra lieu à l’étang Catawampus le samedi 7 mai 2016.
Le tournoi est ouvert aux enfants de tout le personnel de la Base ainsi qu’à ceux des membres du Club
de chasse et pêche de Borden.
Les participants pourront s’inscrire par catégorie d’âge (nom et numéro de téléphone) dès 8 heures à la
cabane à sucre, après quoi le tournoi débutera. Des bénévoles seront aux abords de l'étang; ils pèseront
les truites arc-en-ciel, brunes et mouchetées pêchées par les enfants et inscriront le poids sur la fiche
d'inscription.
La pêche se terminera à 11 h 30, et les prix seront remis à 12 h à la cabane à sucre. Dans chaque
catégorie (6 ans et moins, 7 à 11 ans et 12 à 18 ans), on distribuera trois prix aux pêcheurs ayant attrapé
les plus grosses truites arc-en-ciel, brunes ou mouchetées. Veuillez noter que seules les truites arc-enciel, brunes et mouchetées peuvent être pesées et donner droit à un prix.
Le Club offrira gratuitement une boisson et un hamburger ou un hot-dog aux participants et à leurs
parents.

Les enfants n’ont pas besoin d’avoir un permis de pêche, mais ils doivent se conformer à la loi
ontarienne qui permet d’a-voir en sa possession seulement deux poissons. L’usage d’hameçons sans
ardillons est conseillé afin de pouvoir remettre à l’eau les prises plus petites et ne garder que les
poissons donnant droit à un prix. Pour l’occasion, on ensemencera l’étang avec des truites arc-en-ciel,
brunes et mouchetées; il ne vous reste qu’à apporter votre canne à pêche et des appâts attrayants qui
se tortillent, AUCUN appât vivant n’est permis (veuillez consulter les règlements de la pêche en Ontario
2016 à la page 10, sous-section : « appâts vivants » pour obtenir de plus amples renseignements sur
l’exclusion des appâts vivants) et espérer attraper du poisson en vous amusant fermement.

Cependant, veuillez noter que l'étang sera fermé à la pêche jusqu'au jour du tournoi de pêche à la truite
des enfants, et on demande donc aux gens de ne pas y pêcher durant cette période. Merci de votre
