Until 1992, the basement of a solvent regerneration plant located in Switzerland has been
polluted by leaks of chlorinated solvents.
The origin of the pollution was under control but the water continued to be polluted by a
mixture of chlorinated solvents that authorities wanted to eliminate in agreement with the
Swiss Federal department
Méthodology
The solution is the construction of a
physical barrier with doors (Keops ®
process).
This procedure guarantees the absence
of pollution below the barrier and allows
the in situ treatment of groundwater at
a reduced cost, including land of low
permeability and complex configurations.
Doors installed in the barrier is
composed of three parts:
• Pre-treatment
• Treatment
• post-treatment
