char d'assaut brochant d'argent sommé de la
couronne royale au naturel, au listel d'azur déployé
de la poignée d'une carabine à l'autre, liséré d'or
et inscrit THE WINDSOR REGIMENT en lettres du
même.
Symbolism
The Crown represents service to the Sovereign.
The tank represents the regiment's origins as an
infantry tank unit. The crossed carbines are taken
from the badge of the 3rd Carabiniers (Prince of
Wales's Dragoon Guards) (now The Royal Scots
Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys)) and
represent the regiment's alliance with that unit.
"THE WINDSOR REGIMENT" is a form of the
regimental title.
Symbolisme

This Reserve Force regiment originated in
Windsor, Ontario on 15 December 1936, when
'The Essex Regiment (Tank)' was authorized to be
formed.1 It was redesignated: '30th (Reserve)
Reconnaissance Battalion (Essex Regiment)' on
27 Janua r y 1 9 4 2 ; 2 ' 3 0 t h ( R e s e r v e )

Ce régiment de la Force de réserve vit le jour à
Windsor, en Ontario, le 15 décembre 1936 lorsque
le « The Essex Regiment (Tank) » fut autorisé.1 Il
fut rebaptisé : « 30th (Reserve) Reconnaissance
Battalion (Essex Regiment) » le 27 janvier 1942;2
« 30th (Reserve) Reconnaissance Regiment
(Essex Regiment) » le 8 juin 1942;3 « 30th
(Reserve) Reconnaissance Regiment (Essex
Regiment), RCAC » le 2 août 1945;4 « 22nd
Reconnaissance Regiment (Essex Regiment),
RCAC » le 1er avril 1946;5 « The Windsor

The Second World War
Details from the regiment were called out on active
service on 28 May 1940 under the designation
'The Essex Regiment (Tank), CASF (Details)', for
local protection duties. 11 The regiment
subsequently mobilized an armour regiment
designated the '30th Reconnaissance Battalion
(The Essex Regiment), CAC, CASF' for active
service on 12 May 1942.12 It was redesignated the
'30th Reconnaissance Regiment (The Essex
Regiment), CAC, CASF' on 8 June 1942.13 It
served in Canada in a home defence and training
role as part of Military District No. 12.14 On
23 July 1943 it embarked for Britain where its
soldiers were employed as assembly workers for
unassembled vehicles arriving from Canada.15 The
regiment was disbanded on 31 March 1944.16
Seconde Guerre mondiale
Des détachements du régiment furent mobilisés
pour le service actif le 28 mai 1940, sous
l'appellation de « The Essex Regiment (Tank),
CASF, (Details) », fournissant des services locaux
de protection.11 Subséquemment, le régiment
mobilisa pour le service actif le 12 mai 1942 un
régiment blindé baptisé « 30th Reconnaissance
Battalion (The Essex Regiment), CAC, CASF ».12
Il fut rebaptisé « 30th Reconnaissance Regiment
(The Essex Regiment), CAC, CASF » le
8 juin 1942.13 Il servit au Canada dans un rôle de
défense territoriale, en tant que composante du
District militaire nE. 12.14 Le 23 juillet 1943, il
s'embarque pour la Grande-Bretagne où ses
membres furent employés à monter les véhicules
non-assemblés provenant du Canada.15 Le
régiment fut dissous le 31 mars 1944.16
