Steven James Brown - Beauxartsdesameriques
● Muir’s practice focuses on contemporary photography, sculpture, and installation. His largescale cibachrome photographs challenge accepted models of idealized private and domestic space - literally relocating the private to the public realm and returning the constructed space to the natural. Muir questions the disproportionate value that Western culture assigns consumerism and breaks down the aesthetic of ready made culture. Muir has recently received a BC Arts Council Production grant and he continues to publish and exhibit on an international basis, including Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and New York. Muir currently teaches at Camosun College in Victoria, BC.
