Steven James Brown - Beauxartsdesameriques
D. Bradley Muir
Né / Born Vancouver, 1971
La pratique de Muir se concentre sur
la photographie contemporaine, la
sculpture
et
l’installation.
Ses
photographies cibachrome à grande
échelle ont défié les modèles
idéalisés et acceptés de l’espace
privé et domestique, relocalisant
littéralement le domaine privé vers le
public
et
retournant
l’espace
construit vers le naturel. Muir
questionne la valeur disproportionnée
que la culture occidentale accorde
à
la
consommation
et
brise
l’esthétisme
de
la
culture
préfabriquée. Récemment, Muir a
reçu une subvention de BC Arts
Council Production et il continue à
publier et à exposer sur une base
internationale, incluant Vancouver,
Montréal, Toronto et New York.
Muir enseigne au Collège Camosun à
Victoria, bc.
●
Muir’s
practice
focuses
on
contemporary
photography,
sculpture, and installation. His largescale
cibachrome
photographs
challenge accepted models of
idealized private and domestic
space - literally relocating the private
to the public realm and returning the
constructed space to the natural.
Muir questions the disproportionate
value that Western culture assigns
consumerism and breaks down the
aesthetic of ready made culture.
Muir has recently received a BC Arts
Council Production grant and he
continues to publish and exhibit on
an international basis, including
Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and
New York.
Muir currently teaches at Camosun
College in Victoria, BC.
