Partnership and networking between African countries represent also a contributing factor for strengthening pharmacovigilance by exchanging experiences in specific and common topics. In this sense, international organizations and pharmaceutical industries are acting too. More than that, WHO is playing an important role in developing staff capacity, by providing support to countries and having put in place two collaborating centres in the continent: the UMC/Africa in Ghana (2010) and the WHO Collaborating Centre for Pharmacovigilance in Morocco (2011). nd On the other hand, the creation of the African Society of Pharmacovigilance (ASoP) was launched during the 32 WHO Meeting in Rabat in November2009, where representatives from 16 African nations met to discuss about a specific African Society of Pharmacovigilance “ASoP”. Later then, the African Society of Pharmacovigilance (ASoP) became the African Chapter of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP) during the ISoP General th Assembly in November 2010 in Accra, Ghana at the 10 ISoP Annual Meeting. The main objectives of the African Chapter of ISoP are to develop and foster pharmacovigilance in African countries and to promote a regular exchange of information on pharmacovigilance issues through meetings, workshops, bulletins and trainings. The first ASoP’s congress will be held in Rabat, Morocco on 12-13 December 2013. It will be organized jointly with the th 7 congress of the Moroccan Society of Pharmacovigilance. The main topic of this meeting is the role of the partnership in the pharmacovigilance development in Africa.
