Biography
Ayline Olukman was born in 1981 in Strasbourg, France. She studied at the ESAD
(École Supérieure d'Art et de Design) of Reims, where she graduated in 2005. Feeling
constantly the urge to travel, the artist visited many places across the globe. In 2009,
during a trip around the USA, she fell in love with the Californian desert landscape.
She decided to stop in San Francisco- 2009- then in NY – 2013- where she opened
her own workshop. She moved back to France where she is currently working on her
second photographic book.
The works of this artist have been shown by independent curators and public art
institutions in many countries all over the world: Glasgow (2008), Shanghai, (2008).
Paris (2007-2008-2009-2010-2012), where she has been selected twice to expose at
the MAC 2000. Also in London (2008), Metz – France (2009), Bordeaux (2009-2011),
Strasbourg (2008-2010-2011-2012-2013), Goteborg – Sweden (2011-2013), Istanbul
(2011-2012-2013), Lille (2012), Singapore (2013) and Stockholm (2013). In 2012 she
published her first photographic book “Small Eternity” edited by Mediapop.
Concept
Olukman pictures her life like her very own personal movie. The music almost never
leaves her head, as the soundtrack of a cult scene. She expresses herself mainly
through visual art, but in fact she is more like a movie director: traveling alone,
looking for new places, new people and new stories to tell.
Trying to catch the moment when the action is about to happen with her photo
camera.
The artist combines photography, mixed media art, collages, silkscreen and oil
paintings. Her imaginarium is made of saturated colors, glamour vintage scenes and
unlikely places, somewhat reminiscent of the unsettled world of David Lynch. The
meaning of her works is never directly pointed out. She leaves it to the public to put
together all the pieces of the puzzle.

Biographie
Ayline Olukman est une artiste française née en 1981 à Strasbourg. Elle a étudié à
l’ESAD (École Supérieure d'Art et de Design) à Reims, où elle obtient son diplôme en
2005. En sentant constamment le besoin de voyager, elle visite de nombreux
endroits autour du monde. En 2009, pendant un voyage à travers les Etats-Unis, elle
tombe amoureuse du paysage désertique californien. Elle décide de s’arrêter à San
Francisco -2009- puis à Ny -2013- ou elle trouve un atelier. De retour en France, elle
est actuellement en train de travailler sur son deuxième livre photographique.
Son œuvre est été exposée par des curateurs indépendants et des institutions
artistiques dans le monde entier: Glasgow (2008), Shanghai, (2008). Paris (20072008-2009-2010-2012), où elle a été sélectionnée deux fois pour exposer au MAC
2000. Aussi à Londres (2008), Metz en France (2009), Bordeaux (2009-2011),
Strasbourg (2008-2010-2011-2012-2013), Goteborg – Suède (2011-2013), Istanbul

Concept
Olukman conçoit sa vie comme son propre film personnel. Aussi la musique quitte
rarement ses pensées, comme une soundtrack d’une scène culte. Elle s’exprime
principalement par l’art visuel, mais en fait elle est plus qu’une réalisatrice de
cinéma : elle voyage seule, à la recherche de nouveaux endroits, de nouveaux
personnages et des nouvelles histoires à raconter. Essayer de ‘capturer le moment’
avec son appareil photo.
L’artiste combine photographie, mixed media, collages, sérigraphie et peinture à
l'huile. Son imaginaire est composé par des couleurs saturées, des scènes vintage
glamour et des lieux insolites qui n’est pas sans rappeler le monde et les fantasmes
de David Lynch. La signification de ses œuvres n'est jamais évident. C’est son public
qui doit rassembler toutes les pièces du puzzle et essayer de l'interpréter lui-même.

Alyne Olukman – “The great escape”
Biografie
Ayline Olukman is geboren in 1981 in Strasbourg, Frankrijk. Ze heeft gestudeerd aan
de ESAD (École Supérieure d'Art et de Design) van Reims, waar ze is afgestudeerd in
2005. Ze voelde de constante drang om te reizen en heeft daardoor vele plaatsen
bezocht over de hele wereld. In 2009, tijdens een reis doorheen de VSA, is ze verliefd
geworden op het landschap van de Californische woestijn. Ze beslist om een stop te
houden in San Francisco -2009- en nadien in NY – 2013- waar ze haar eigen atelier
opent. Terug in Frankrijk, waar ze momenteel bezig is aan haar tweede fotografisch
boek.
De werken van deze artieste werden reeds getoondgesteld door verschillende
onafhankelijke curators en publieke kunstinstellingen in vele landen, over de hele
wereld: Glasgow (2008), Shanghai, (2008). Parijs (2007-2008-2009-2010-2012), waar
ze tweemaal geselecteerd is om te exposeren in de MAC 2000. Alsook in London

Concept
Olukman stelt zich haar leven voor als een eigen, persoonlijke film. De muziek
verlaat zelden haar hoofd, klinkend als een soundtrack uit een cult scène. Ze uit zich
grotendeels door haar visuele kunst, maar in feite is ze meer een regisseuse: iemand
die alleen reist, op zoek gaat naar nieuwe plaatsen, nieuwe mensen en nieuwe
verhalen om te vertellen. Gedreven om dat ene moment, net voor de actie, op foto
te kunnen pakken.
De artieste combineert fotografie, mixed media, collages, silkscreen en olieverf. Haar
imaginarium is een mix van verzadigde kleuren, glamour vintage scènes en
ongewone plaatsen, die ons doen denken aan de rusteloze wereld van David Lynch.
De betekenis van haar werken is nooit voor de hand liggend, ze laat het over aan het
publiek om alle puzzelstukjes samen te brengen tot één geheel.
