Study and conception for best performance of a wind
Turbine and new hub conception
An analysis of the evolution of turbulence characteristics in wind-turbine wakes has been
carried out. Based on experimental results and on numerical results obtained with a
SOLIDWORKS2012 flow simulation, complemented with some theoretical considerations,
simple analytical expressions are proposed for the estimation of the turbulent kinetic energy.
This study quantitatively investigates the effects of tunnel blockage on the turbine power coefficient
in wind tunnel tests of small horizontal-axis wind turbines.
