Clinic
The Assistive Communication Clinic (ACC) is an
accredited Assistive Devices Program (ADP) clinic
(expanded level) for augmentative and alternative
communication. The ACC provides assessment,
consultation, intervention, and training to assist clients
in developing functional communication (face-to-face and
written communication).
What are the costs of augmentative and/or
alternative communication?
•
If the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) eligibility
criteria are met, the client may be eligible for
full or partial funding assistance for the prescribed
equipment.
What is augmentative and/or alternative
communication?
•
Clients with a valid Ontario health card are
not charged for ACC services (i.e., assessment,
consultation, intervention, and training).

augment speech and writing.
How to access our services?
Face-to-Face Communication
•
Physician’s referral
Communication with the use of photos/symbols,
gestures, sign language, facial expressions, and technical
devices.

Referral by parents, educators, therapists, etc.

For More Information contact:
Communication with the use of devices (i.e., adapted
computer hardware and software, word processors, etc.)

La Clinique d’aides techniques à la communication
(CATC) est une clinique reconnue par le Programme
d’appareils et accessoires fonctionnels (PAAF) (niveau
avancé) visant la suppléance à la communication et la
communication auxiliaire. La CATC assure des services
d’évaluation, de consultation, d’intervention et de
formation pour aider les clients à développer leur aptitude
à communiquer de façon fonctionnelle (communication
face à face et écrite).
Aides à l’écriture pour adultes
En quoi consiste la suppléance à la
communication ou la communication
auxiliaire?
•
Il s’agit de méthodes visant à appuyer ou à compléter la
communication orale et écrite.
Comment avoir accès à nos services
Communication face à face
•
Recommandation d’un médecin
•
Les demandes de services provenant de parents,
d’enseignants, de thérapeutes, etc. doivent
être accompagnées de la recommandation d’un
médecin.
Communication au moyen de photos/symboles, de
gestes, de langage gestuel, d’expressions du visage et
d’appareils techniques.
Aides à l’écriture
Communication au moyen d’appareils (p. ex. matériel
informatique et logiciels adaptés, traitements de texte,
etc.) en vue de faciliter l’écriture.
Notre équipe
Notre équipe transdisciplinaire pour enfants et adultes
se compose des membres suivants :
• ergothérapeutes;
• orthophonistes;
• aide-orthophoniste;
• technicien.

Coûts et sources de financement
•
Si le client répond aux critères d’admissibilité du
PAAF, il peut être admissible à une aide financière
afin de couvrir le coût total ou partiel de
l’équipement recommandé.
Les clients qui détiennent une carte Santé
valide n’ont aucun coût à assumer relativement
aux services offerts par la CATC (p. ex. évaluation,
consultation, intervention et formation).
