Panel proposal accepted: Anastacia Bermudez has recently received
the approval to organize and coordinate an international panel
entitled: "Migracion y participacion politica individual y colectiva: la
construccion de nuevos espacios y liderazgos en los procesos de
incorporacion politica de los inmigrantes" (Migration and individual and
collective political participation: the construction of new spaces and
leaderships in the political incorporation of migrants). She will cocoordinate this panel with Antonio Robles Ebea (University of Granada)
and Nieves Ortega Pérez (University of Granada). The panel will take
place at the international conference entitled: VII CONGRESO SOBRE
MIGRACIONES INTERNACIONALES, Granada (Spain), 16th-18th
September 2015.
Call for Papers: "The Sociology of External Voting" to be held at the
next conference of the French Political Science Association (AFSP). The
conference will be held in Aix-en-Provence on 22nd-24th June 2015.
Prposals in English and French can be submitted by 15th October
2014. More info.
Call for Papers: for the workshop: "Employment Relationships in
Migrant Domestic Work: A Transnational Perspective" that will take
place in Brussels from the 15th to the 16th of January. Propositions
and personal bio to be sent to: Maria Vivas, Beatriz Camargo,
or Anna Safuta before the 31st of October 2014. The selected
participants will be invited to send their papers (max 5.500 worts,
including references) on the 7th of January 2015.
New INTEGRIM PhD research intern: The CEDEM has recently
welcomed Claudia Paraschivescu, a Romanian researcher based in the
University of Leeds. her doctoral dissertation is funded both by the UK:
Economic and Social Research Council Funding and at the CEDEM by
INTEGRIM and the Marie Curie Early Stage Research Network.
Claudia's PhD dissertation is entitled: "Transnationalism as the
Negotiation of Belonging: A Case Study of Romanians in London and
Paris".

Thesis Dissertation: Elsa Mescoli defended her doctoral thesis
entitled: “ Entre recettes du Soi et recettes de l’Autre. Ethnographie de
pratiques culinaires marocaines”. The event took place in Sesto San
Giovanni (Milan, Italy). Elsa obtained a doctorate in Political and Social
Sciences at the University of Liège and doctorate in Contemporary
Anthropology: Ethnography of Diversity and Convergences of Cultures
at the UNIMIB.
15-16 MAY 2014
International Conference: This past May 2014 CEDEM and its
director Marco Martiniello, along with two other research units from
the ULg: CLE and Pole Sud, hosted TRICUD's final conference. The
conference brought together renowed international experts in the field
of transnationalism such as Nina Glick Schiller and Steven Vertovec.

Thesis Dissertation: Caroline Zickgraf defended her doctoral thesis
entitled :"Family from afar : Moroccan Migration, Family Practices and
the Transnational Social Space". She then received a doctorate in
Social and Political Science from the University of Liège. The thesis
was supervised by Hassan Bousetta. ORBi

Nouvelle chercheuse INTEGRIM: Le CEDEM accueillie Claudia
Paraschivescu qui depuis 2012 est doctorante à l'Université de Leeds.
Son projet est financée par le Economic and Social Research Council.
En parallèle, elle a été sélectionnée pour passer une année au sein du
CEDEM à partir de Septembre 2014 en tant que Marie Curie Early
Stage Researcher (réseau INTEGRIM). Sa thèse s'intitule "Penser le
transnationalisme comme la négociation de l'appartenance. Les
Roumains à Londres et à Paris".

Défense de Thèse: Elsa Mescoli a défendu sa thèse intitulée: "Entre
recettes du Soi et recettes de l’Autre. Ethnographie de pratiques
culinaires marocaines" à Sesto San Giovanni (Milan, Italie). Elle a
obtenu le titre de Docteur en "Sciences Politiques et Sociales" (ULg) et
en "Anthropologie de la contemporanéité: ethnographie des diversités
et des convergences culturelles" (UNIMIB).
14-15 MAI 2014:
En mai dernier, le CEDEM et son directeur Marco Martiniello, avec deux
autres unités de recherche de l'ULg: CLEO et le Pole Sud, ont organisé
la conférence finale TRICUD. La conférence a réuni des experts de
renommée internationale dans le domaine du transnationalisme
comme Nina Glick Schiller et Steven Vertovec. Pour un résumé de la
