Long Term Disability
Sun Life noted that the plan showed
an unaudited actuarial surplus of
$10,277,795 as of September 30,
2013. At that time, there were 254
active claims and 10 pending claims.

to the member with the revised
predetermination information.
Sun
Life also confirmed that the eligibility
for a manual wheelchair is related to
a member’s medical condition and the
prognosis. If the member is eligible
for a wheelchair, the cost of a manual
wheelchair would be applied toward
the cost of a scooter based on the
Reasonable and Customary cost for a
wheelchair. Sun Life also looked into
the issue of the advice that was given
to the member by their Call Centre.

Sun Life indique qu’une lettre contenant des
renseignements révisés au sujet de la
prédétermination a été envoyée au participant.
En outre, Sun Life confirme que l’admissibilité
des frais engagés pour un fauteuil roulant
manuel est liée à l’état de santé du participant
et au pronostic. Si le participant est admissible
à un fauteuil roulant, le montant prévu pour un
fauteuil roulant manuel sera appliqué au
remboursement du fauteuil roulant motorisé en
fonction des frais raisonnables normalement
exigés pour un fauteuil roulant. De plus, Sun
Life a aussi examiné la question de l’avis que le
participant a reçu du centre d’appels.

scheduled with the joint working
