JUSTIFICACIÓN
La civilización egipcia tuvo una amplia extensión geográfica y cronológica en la Antigüedad. Sus
repercusiones sobre otras civilizaciones de la Antigüedad hacen pertinente un tratamiento específico y más
amplio de lo que permiten las asignaturas que se imparten en la docencia reglada de la Licenciatura de
Humanidades.
En el presente curso, se oferta dicha asignatura con un total de 6 créditos, en lugar de los 4,5
créditos del curso 2003/04, debido a la extensión de la materia a tratar. Por otro lado, no existe
inconvenientes en el área, puesto que hay disponibilidad de profesorado en la misma.
HISTORIA DEL ANTIGUO EGIPTO (Libre Configuración Específica de Historia Antígua: 4,5 créditos).
Tema 0.- INTRODUCCIÓN A LA HISTORIA DE EGIPTO.
El nacimiento de la Egiptología. Espacios geográficos, territorios, recursos, formaciones sociales,
lenguas y escrituras. Nomadismo y sedentarización. Reinos, imperios, y estados étnicos. La periodización del
Egipto Antiguo. Manetón y la división de la historia de Egipto en Dinastías.
Tema 1º.- LA FORMACIÓN DEL ESTADO EGIPCIO.
El entorno natural del Nilo: Recursos y evolución de las comunidades agrícolas. El Predinástico:
Nagada y Hieracompolis como centros políticos. La unificación del país. El Reino Antíguo y su
administracción. Crisis del poder central.
Tema 2º.- EL REINO MEDIO DE EGIPTO Y LOS HICSOS.
Reorganización del Reino de Egipto. Modelos de comunidades: ciudades, aldeas y fortalezas. La
religión egipcia: Cosmogonías y cultos. Los Hicsos. La división del pais. El conflicto norte-sur.
Tema 3º.- EL IMPERIO EGIPCIO.
Reunificación y expansión territorial fuera de Egipto. La administración central y provincial. La
profesionalización del ejército. La crisis religiosa de Atón. Ramésidas y pueblos del mar. El debilitamiento de
la monarquía. Nuevos modelos de asentamientos.
Tema 4º.- EGIPTO EN EL PRIMER MILENIO.
El Tercer Periodo Intermedio. La hegemonía libia. La dinastía etíope y la intervención de Asiria. El
renacimiento Saita. Egipto bajo los persas. El dominio griego. Egipto, provincia romana.
