recherches-‐sur-‐l-‐espace-‐germanophone-‐cereg-‐-‐55716.kjsp The dissertation project must pertain to the Labex’s general theme: The Pasts in the Present: History, Heritage, Memory cluster of excellence is concerned with the presence of the past in contemporary society. The cluster of excellence seeks to understand mediations of history in the digital age, politics of memory, social appropriations of the past up -‐ and downstream from heritage policies. The reflection is interdisciplinary and organised in two fundamental themes. The first, “Connections to the Past: Representations and Assessments,” seeks a global analysis of representations of the past from every epoch (from prehistory to the present). The second, “Active Knowledge of the Past: Practices and Tools of Transmission,” is based on documentary and archival resources and collections conserved by the cluster’s different partners. It seeks to make available, for different audiences, new digitized collections, which, for some, contribute to the history of disciplines (archaeology, ethnology, ethnomusicology). Digital Humanities, along with questions of modelizations, frames of reference, uses, digital culture, are transverse to these two themes. The research is organised into four (4) themes which are at the crossroads of history, heritage and memory. They create interdisciplinary dynamics and transversalities between research and heritage professions: -‐
Representations and uses of the past from every epoch (from the eldest to the most contemporary): historiographies, history of representations in various epochs, migration of works and images, memory policies, heritage policies, etc.) ; -‐
The effects of the mediation of the past, analyzed from the perspective of social and cultural appropriations of memory and heritage policies, on one hand, and of new digital uses of sources for history, on the other hand (future of online digitized heritage, uses of social networks, etc.); -‐
History, heritage, memory: new sources for new uses (new archives depositors, collecting testimonies for oral history, research-‐action dynamics, etc.) ; -‐
History, heritage, memory: new digital access, new perspectives (history of sciences, epistemology, process of creation of knowledge; sources for history and Linked Data; impact of the digital access to sources on the creation of knowledge; process of heritage creation in a digital context, etc.) Eligibility: • The candidates must either not be enrolled in a PhD programme but have defended their master’s thesis before the application deadline or not be enrolled in a PhD programme for more than 6 months at the beginning of the doctoral fellowship. These candidates are eligible for a 3-‐year fellowship. • In exceptional cases, the candidates can be enrolled in a PhD for maximum 1 year at the beginning of the doctoral fellowship. These candidates are eligible for a 2-‐year fellowship. • Candidates may have studied at Université Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense, any other French university, or abroad. Scientific criteria: The main criteria for evaluating a candidate are the scholarly quality of his/her master’s degree and dissertation project. The selection committee will pay particular attention to a project’s interdisciplinarity and to candidates enrolled in academic programs who seek a career in research, teaching, and/or heritage-‐promoting agencies and institutions. In order to promote joint degrees, special attention will be paid to candidates who obtained their master’s degree from a foreign university.
