1. BEGINNERS
We offer three beginners’ classes to tailor your introduction to the
French language according to your current level and experience. The
beginners’ classes will give you the tools to start a short conversation
about yourself and your family. These courses will help you feel more
confident in French. You should plan on having regular homework.
101 – ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS is a 90-minute class for those who are
learning the French language from scratch.
102 – FALSE BEGINNERS is a 2-hour class for those who have been
exposed to or followed a couple of sessions in the past.
103 – FRENCH BASICS AND MORE is for those who can understand
basic conversation.
3. ADVANCED
You have been studying French for four years.
DANS LA CLASSE 301 – FRENCH THROUGH DEBATES & NEWS, vous
discuterez autour d’un article de la presse française au début de
chaque classe. Une œuvre contemporaine sera également choisie
pour la session et elle servira de base à des exercices pointus de
compréhension écrite et orale. Vous apprendrez à vous exprimer
d’une manière précise en abordant les différences entre les temps
du passé et leur concordance, les accords au passé avec les verbes
pronominaux, le discours indirect. Vous verrez en détail différents
types d’écrits et apprendrez à en maîtriser les règles d’écriture.
4. VERY ADVANCED
2. INTERMEDIATE
You have been studying French for a couple of years, and you are
ready to improve your conversation skills. You will learn how to use
a higher level of grammar and new vocabulary.
201 – PRACTICAL FRENCH CONVERSATION est un cours de
conversation de niveau intermédiaire sur la vie quotidienne et la
compréhension d’éléments clés de la culture française. Il repose sur
des textes et documents authentiques. Tous les étudiants devront
faire une présentation individuelle devant la classe.
202 – LET’S TALK! is a fun-based class. Following the calendar of
seasons and events, each class is dedicated to a vocabulary theme.
Grammar helps to improve the complexity of your oral and written
expression. Homework recaps the notions seen and encourages
your creativity. We also work on pronunciation. The extended use
of online and multimedia resources offers you a variety of true
communication situations.
You tend to fluency in French.
401 – CAFÉ CULTUREL FRANCOPHONE is a conversational class
where you can discuss the last trends in francophone literature,
cinema and arts in a relaxed atmosphere. You should plan at least
one visit to a museum, or to see a movie.
5. SPECIALTY WORKSHOPS
Specialty workshops are short but intensive classes on specific topics
which vary every session. You can attend either one or both.
50 YEARS OF TEACHING FRENCH AND ENGLISH
The International School of Boston (ISB) is proud to offer language

community, as well as other interested adults.
