Spring is here and, as you will see below, we shall be going on an outing in April but, first of all, we are going
to play Bingo on Saturday, 21st March at 4 pm so come along, join in the fun and maybe win a prize!
Refreshments will be served afterwards to revive us after we have collapsed exhausted, rushing to fill up our
cards! Carol will be calling the numbers in true bingo hall fashion, i.e. number 11, legs eleven, etc.!
Also in March, we are invited to a conference entitled “The death penalty today in the US”, given by Roberta
M. Harding, professor at the University of Lexington, Kentucky and a specialist in the death penalty. This will
be held in English, at the G amphitheatre at the Law Faculty in Nantes (tram line 2, stop “Les Facultés”) at
5 pm on Thursday, 19th March. It is free of charge and open to all.
So where are we off to on our spring outing? To ANGERS castle for the 600th anniversary of the birth of
Le Roi René, with our own private guide, on Saturday, 25th April. We shall be joined by some
members of AFGB Tours and shall have lunch with them so it will be nice to get to know them. Please state
on the attached coupon whether you wish to join the group taking the train or if you prefer to go by car. The
cost for the actual tour will be 6€ but no other details of the trip are known as this letter goes to print. Sorry

Then, on Tuesday, 26 May, we are going to see “The Mouse Trap” by Agatha Christie. It has been
running in London for 50 odd years now! It is performed in English by a company called “Frogs on Stage” at
8.30 pm at the Salle Vasse, Rue Colbert and it costs 6€. Contact Marie-Claire on 06 68 97 05 50.

Hang about! We are far from finished! The Garden Party is on Saturday, 6 June, and this year
features a pair-up and question & answer game organised by Marie-Thérèse Guelton with a prize for the
winning team. Another novelty is that it is being held in the garden just next door to Marie-Claire’s house
(her daughter’s!), so we should have no difficulty finding it! Of course, we are upholding the tradition of tea,
cucumber sandwiches and strawberries & cream … some things never change! Otherwise, what would the
world come to?

Last but not least, Fun & Games Day by the Erdre on Saturday, 27 June to finish off the year with a
flourish. If it’s anything like last year, we shall fall about laughing and not do much serious racing but there
will be prizes for the winners (not for cheats, though!). Bring your own picnic and please let me know if you
are coming so that I can write you down on my list, as there is no room left for a proper answer coupon!
Our Open Day will be on Saturday 12th September, so put it in your diary in advance.
