- AFNOR (Association française de normalisation / French Standards Association)
- AFSSA (Agence française de sécurité sanitaire des aliments / French Food Safety
Authority) : created by law no. 98-535 of 01 July 1998, OJ of 02/07/1998, the new Agency is
mainly responsible for assessing the sanitary and nutritional risks that may be present in
foods intended for humans or animals, including water intended for human consumption.

development of cereal production procedures in France, merger of the ITCF and the AGPM

Organisation) joint committee, the Codex Alimentarius Commission whose aim is to create
standards to protect consumer safety and ensure fair practices in the foodstuff trade, these
standards are used as a reference by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) when assessing
the extent to which the national regulations and their methods of application are an
excessive hindrance.
