Depuis près de 70 ans, le Musée de la Huronie est le musée de la région. Avec plus d’un
million d’artéfacts dans sa collection, le musée raconte l’histoire régionale commençant par
les Premières nations avant le contact européen, suivi de l’établissement des communautés
de Simcoe Nord et des œuvres d’art créées par les artistes d’aujourd’hui. Les expositions du
musée comprennent les œuvres du Groupe des Sept, des articles du patrimoine maritime,

Le village Huron-Wendat du Musée de la Huronie offre aux visiteurs l’occasion de se

Une grande croisière éducative pour les amateurs d’histoire, cette croisière spéciale retrace plus de
400 ans d’histoire locale et canadienne commençant avec l’arrivée de Samuel de Champlain dans
la région en 1615. Apprenez davantage sur le rôle important que la ville de Penetanguishene a joué
dans la Guerre de 1812 en passant par le Havre de la découverte et les Établissements navals et
militaires toujours sur place. Rapportée dans les deux langues officielles du Canada, cette croisière
propose aussi de la musique jouée par des musiciens locaux dont les chansons reflètent la riche
culture et histoire de Penetanguishene. Les options de croisière longue distance sont également
disponibles ainsi que les déjeuners et dîners de croisières tout au long de la saison de navigation.
En automne, la Serendipity Princess se rend à Port Severn, Ontario pour commencer les croisières
aux thèmes de couleurs d’automne le long de la voie navigable Trent-Severn. Les croisières durent
deux heures et demie et offrent de la musique sur scène et des choix de menus pour le déjeuner et
le dîner. La croisière quitte l’écluse 45 à Port Severn et se dirige vers la voie ferrée marine Big Chute
- l’unique dans son genre encore en exploitation en Amérique du Nord.
En plus des croisières touristiques ordinaires, la Miss Midland et la Serendipity Princess sont toutes
les deux disponibles pour les voyages privés comme les noces, les collectes de fonds, les sorties
sociales et de nombreux autres événements. Les deux bateaux sont accessibles pour les personnes
en fauteuil roulant et sont équipées d’un casse-croûte, un bar avec permis d’alcool, des toilettes
et des ponts inférieurs chauffées. Les tarifs pour le voyage en famille, les personnes âgées et le

Ski et motoneige

la forêt naturelle avec plusieurs restaurants pour s’arrêter en chemin. Le ski alpin et la planche à
neige se trouvent à seulement 30 minutes de Midland au Mont St. Louis Moonstone et à l’intérieur
des limites de la ville au Mountainview Ski Hill. Ce dernier, le Parc provincial Awenda et le Marais
Wye offrent aussi une variété des pistes de ski de fond et de raquettes de courte et de longue

davantage de la nature. Le sud de la baie Georgienne offre un mélange de forêts et d’eau qui

2016, le sud de la baie Georgienne rendra hommage au canot,
symbole de la culturelle canadienne au Centre faunique du
marais Wye en présentant des thèmes mensuels commençant au
mois de mai jusqu’en décembre : Fêtons le canot; Les merveilles
de l’écorce de bouleau; Allons au camp; Le voyageur; le mois de
la randonnée; L’artisanat du Nord; La création de la Nature; et
Pendant la lune d’hiver.
En hiver, la région accueille plusieurs festivals offrant une variété
d’activités divertissantes. Elle offre la chance aux résidents et aux
touristes de se regrouper et de passer la journée hors de chez
soi à profiter d’activités hivernales. Bien que les festivals d’hiver
surviennent plus tard pendant la saison, la fin novembre apporte
Premières lueurs, événement populaire à Sainte-Marie-au-paysdes-Hurons. Il offre une façon incroyable de découvrir l’histoire
des Jésuites tout en suivant des sentiers allumés à la lanterne à
travers le village.
