NSI CAN CAN boards for PC These boards allow the connection of a PC system to the standardized CAN network (ISO 11898) and can be used on ISA E-ISA, PC /104, PCI or PCMCIA type II standard buses. The boards are functionally the same. An application can be developped in a PC environment and then embedded in a PC/104 for example. This component controls the LINK layer (OSI Level 2) of the CAN standard : - CAN standard (11 bits identifiers) or extended (29 bits identifiers) data frame, - Standard or extended CAN remote frame. - Up to 8 data bytes message length. • CAN High speed boards The CAN High speed boards use the PHILIPS 82C250 line driver. This component supervises the PHYSICAL layer of the the CAN standard (ISO 11898). - up to 1 Mbits/s. - differential mode. - up to 30 nodes on the bus. These boards are available in an non-isolated or electrically isolated version. For the electrically isolated version, no external power supply is necessary. • CAN Low speed boards The CAN Low speed boards use a fully compatible TJA 1053 line driver. This component supervises the PHYSICAL layer of the the CAN Low speed standard (ISO 11519) : - up to 125 kbit /s The boards are able to use other line driver. SOFTWARE INTERFACES Availability The PC software NSI527, available in option, can be used with a CAN board to set up a test station : aperiodic or periodic transmission of CAN data frames, displaying and counting of the received frames, counting of the detected errors.
