Le coq sportif est né en 1882 à Romilly-sur-Seine, près de
Tr o y e s , c a p i t a l e d e l a b o n n e t e r i e e n F r a n c e . É m i l e C a m u s e t ,
artisan bonnetier passionné de sport et véritable visionnaire,
créa la marque tricolore, une marque au service de tous les
sportifs, de l’amateur au professionnel.
A l ’ a u b e d u 2 0 ème s i è c l e , e s t f a b r i q u é l e t o u t p r e m i e r
s u r v ê t e m e n t - l e c o s t u m e d u 7 ème j o u r : u n e p r o u e s s e
technique réalisée grâce à l’utilisation d’un jersey souple
et au développement de techniques de tricot innovantes.
Sincérité, passion et authenticité sont les valeurs qui ont
porté le coq sportif au sommet de l’excellence, témoin des
p l u s b e a u x m o m e n t s d e s p o r t : s u r l e s r o u t e s d u To u r d e
France pendant près de 40 ans, lors des victoires légendaires
de l’Argentine en Coupe du Monde en 1986 et de l’Italie
en 1982, de la consécration de la star de tennis française
Ya n n i c k N o a h à R o l a n d G a r r o s e n 1 9 8 3 .
V i n g t c i n q a n s p l u s t a r d , Ya n n i c k f a i t t o u j o u r s p a r t i e d e l a
famille le coq sportif, rejoint par son fils, le joueur de basket
professionnel Joakim Noah.
La marque signe son retour à Romilly en 2010, en y installant
son centre de développement textile. En 2012, le coq sportif
d e v i e n t à n o u v e a u l ’ é q u i p e m e n t i e r d u To u r d e F r a n c e , p o u r l e s
130 ans de la marque tricolore.
Le coq sportif finds its origins in Romilly-sur-Seine,
in a french region synonymous with the finest in hosiery
craftsmanship. One of these craftsmen, Émile Camuset,
combined his dual passion for hosiery and sport to create
the tricolor brand. Applying his drive and expertise,
he became the leader in sports apparel and the premier
choice of all sportsmen.
By the use of the functional jersey and the application
of innovative knitting techniques, le coq sportif created
a n e w c o m f o r t i n s p o r t g a r m e n t s i n t h e e a r l y 2 0 th c e n t u r y
that culminated with the invention of the 7 day suit –
the tracksuit.
L e c o q s p o r t i f ’s s i n c e r i t y a n d p a s s i o n t o t h e c r a f t s m a n ’s
exacting values brought the brand to the pinnacle of world
s p o r t i n g e x c e l l e n c e : t h e To u r d e F r a n c e f o r 4 0 y e a r s ;
the legendary World Cup champion teams Argentina in 1986
and Italia in 1982; the 1983 Roland Garros winning tennis star
Ya n n i c k N o a h ; a n d m o s t n o t a b l y, e q u i p p i n g a n d o u t f i t t i n g
the everyday sportsman.
Tw e n t y - f i v e y e a r s l a t e r, Ya n n i c k s t i l l s t a n d s b y l e c o q s p o r t i f ,
he was joined in 2007 by his son, basketball player Joakim Noah.
The brand made a return to Romilly in 2010, with the
establishment of the textile development centre. In 2012,
le coq sportif will once more become the official supplier
o f t h e To u r d e F r a n c e , m a r k i n g t h e f r e n c h b r a n d ’s 1 3 0 t h
anniversary.
