Il programma cinema Dante di quest’autunno intende esplorare la società italiana
nelle sue varie sfaccettature. Comprende opere famose degli anni ’80 e film di
produzione recente, ambientati in tempi passati o recenti, alcuni comici ma sempre
con un invito alla riflessione. Con i primi due film vogliamo rendere omaggio al
regista Ettore Scola, uno dei maestri della commedia sociale italiana che è
recentemente deceduto: entrambi presentano ricordi e sentimenti durante i tempi
difficili del fascismo e gli anni del dopoguerra. Due altri film, con e di Massimo
Troisi, Roberto Benigni e Walter Matthau, sono commedie leggere sulle convenzioni
sociali. Infine, due opere recenti dei registi Paolo Virzì e Ivano De Matteo, entrambi
conosciuti e amati da pubblico e critica, parlano delle relazioni conflittuali e diverse
responsabilità all’interno della famiglia quando si confronta con una società
complessa e competitiva.
I film saranno presentati al Glebe Community Centre, 175 Third Avenue, alle 19 il
mercoledì sera a settimane alterne, dal 21 settembre al 30 novembre 2016. Entrata
gratuita. Le proiezioni saranno in italiano con sottotitoli italiani.

Fall 2016
The Italian cinema program next fall will explore Italian society in a multifaceted
approach. It will include well-known works of the 1980s and more recent works, plots
set either in the past or in the present that are sometimes comic and always thoughtful
in tone. Two of the movies in the program were directed by Ettore Scola, one of the
masters of Italian social comedy, who has recently passed away: they both deal with
memories and feelings during the difficult times of fascist dictatorship and the years
after. Two other movies, featuring Massimo Troisi, Roberto Benigni and Walter
Matthau, are light-hearted comedies that make fun of social conventions. More recent
works by award-winning directors Paolo Virzì and Ivano De Matteo show the
conflictual relationship and responsibilities between parents and children in a complex
competitive society.
The films will be offered at the Glebe Community Centre, 175 Third Avenue, at 7:00
pm on alternating Wednesdays, from September 21 to November 30. Admission is
free. All showings will be in Italian, and most with subtitles in Italian.
Presented by the Glebe Neighbourhood Activities Group and Dante Alighieri Society
of Ottawa.

Automne 2016
Cet automne, le programme de cinéma italien explorera la société italienne sous toutes
ses facettes . Qu’il s’agisse d’œuvres connues des années 1980 ou de la dernière
décennie et quelle que soit la période où se situe l’intrigue, tous les films à l’affiche
offrent une réflexion sérieuse sous des dehors parfois comiques. Deux des œuvres
choisies sont d’Ettore Scola, ce maître de la comédie sociale à l’italienne qui nous a
quittés récemment. Elles traitent toutes deux de souvenirs et de sentiments liés à la
difficile époque de la dictature fasciste et aux années qui l’ont suivie. Deux autres
films, mettant en vedette Massimo Troisi, Roberto Benigni et Walter Matthau, sont
des comédies légères qui ridiculisent les conventions sociales. Plus récentes, les
œuvres signées Paolo Virzì et Ivano De Matteo, deux réalisateurs primés, présentent
les relations conflictuelles parents-enfants ainsi que les responsabilités de chacun dans
une société complexe marquée par la compétition.
Les projections auront lieu au Centre communautaire Glebe (175 Third Avenue), un
mercredi sur deux, du 21 septembre au 30 novembre, à 19 h. (Version originale
italienne, le plus souvent sous-titrée en italien.) L’entrée est libre.
Une présentation du Glebe Neighbourhood Activities Group et de la Société Dante
Alighieri d’Ottawa.
