Information Package
Summer Camps 2016
Thank you for registering your child at the Vanier Museopark summer camp! Vanier
Museopark, a museum dedicated to the history of the Vanier neighbourhood and to the
French language and culture in Ottawa, is situated in the heart of a heritage forest!
During these summer camps, kids aged 4 to 10 will discover the Richelieu forest’s
ecosystem, explore the everyday life of pioneers and much more. Through educational
activities, inside as well as outside, the campers will learn about Vanier’s heritage.
HOURS
Camp begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m., on Wednesdays. A Childcare Service is
available from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., if necessary. Please make
sure to drop off your child before 9 a.m., to avoid time conflicts. There is an additional
fee of 8$ per week if you choose this service. This fee must be paid when registering
for the camps.
CHILD DROP OFF AND PICK UP
Vanier Museopark is situated in the Vanier neighbourhood, at 300 des Pères Blancs
Avenue, on the 2nd floor. The counselor will welcome the campers in the museum on
the second floor of the Richelieu-Vanier Community Center, and will be there with the
children for pick up.
If someone other than a parent will pick up your child, you must fill out the form
titled Consent Form – Child Pick Up, and hand a signed copy to the counselor on
Monday, before the start of camp.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Where does camp take place at the museum?
A: Most of the activities will be outside, in the Richelieu Park. Some activities will be
inside, in the sugar shack or in one of the designated rooms in the Richelieu-Vanier
Community Centre.
Q: How many counselors will there be?
A: The counselor-camper ratio is of 7 campers for one counselor. The number of
counselors depends on the number of registered campers.
Q: What will the children do if it rains?
A: If it is only raining a bit and the kids are dressed for rainy days, the activities will
take place outside. If the temperature does not allow us to stay outside, the activities
will either be adapted for an indoor space, or be replaced by another indoor activity.
Q: What if my child has a severe allergy or medical condition?
A: If your child has allergies or any other medical condition, please make sure to warn
the counselor so that we may take preventative measures. The Vanier Museopark staff
is First Aid/CPR certified and can help your child administer their EpiPen or inhaler in
the event of an emergency. If there is any other medication that your child needs to
take while at camp, please complete the Medication Administration Request Form in
this package. Please bring the form and the medication with you on the first day of
camp.
Q: Do we need to prepare a lunch?
A: You must prepare a lunch and two snacks for your child. There is a microwave
available to warm meals.
