castle stand up and has an overview on very nice hanging gardens and fountains
that kept all their charm. By walking in the old village, you won’t miss the
steeple delicately carved at the top of the church.

After this quick visit of CUCURON, your next stop will be LA BASTIDE DES JOURDANS.
La Bastide des Jourdans is a peaceful village situated in the Aigues valley, south of the Luberon.
Created in the early 18th century by the Comte de Forcalquier, La Bastide des Jourdans is named after
the first owners of the manor, knights Guillaume and Pierre Jourdan who built the first important
house, a « bastide ».
La Bastide des Jourdans is a fortified village, standing at 428 meters above the sea, and dominated by
a 13th century castle that still has a few remains.
Between its medieval towers, more rencent constructions give to the whole a singular aspect.
Diner, night and breakfast are organized by SUN-E-BIKE in the Auberge du Cheval Blanc.
Don’t forget to change your batteries during the night.

Day 2 :
After your breakfast, you will go to La TOUR D’AIGUES.
La Tour d'Aigues is an agricultural village surrounded by wide plains and
vineyards producing a well-known wine. Capital of the Aigues valley, this village
offers the remains of a Renaissance-style castle deserving a long stop.
The dimensions of the fronts give a suprising contrast with the other castles of
the region, much more moderate in their style. Looking like a theatre decor, you
can easily imagine what was the past splendor of this site. The main gate, still
intact, is one of the most beautiful in Provence. Inside the castle, a very amusing
walk gives the possibility for the visitor to « make » the castle ring by just walking on the alleys !

Because of its geographical situation, PERTUIS has always been a crossroads
between the sea and the mountains. Its name in latin means « the way »… The
visit of the old town will enchant you : small streets full of flowers, old houses
restored with taste… There is definitely a sweet provencal atmosphere in
PERTUIS, where the light and the shoadows embellish the rich heritage of the
city.
