Teodora Axente
(1984 – Romania - Lives and works in Cluj-Napoca, Romania)
In recent years, artists from Romania, including Adrian Ghenie, Mircea Cantor, Ciprian Muresan or Victor Man,
gained a lot of interest from both public institutions and private galleries and collectors. Teodora Axente belongs to
the newest generation of artists from the Romanian School from Cluj, who is currently finding their voice and a
new story to tell.
In her work Teodora Axente is preoccupied with the duality between spirit and matter - two dimensions between
which humans always oscillate trying to find themselves. Using different materials, Axente is addressing the human
desire of reshaping himself, of discovering new dimensions. Through the flashy materiality of aluminum foil, satin
pillow, nylon bags or curtains, she brings us in a world of mystery that seems to be spiritual, noble and attractive,
but in reality what we are attracted to and what is guiding us is the matter and the material.

Garis & Hahn is a gallery-cum-Kunsthalle that mounts exhibitions focused on conceptual narratives and
relevant conversations in contemporary art. By displaying an array of carefully curated artists, the gallery
endeavors to provide accessibility, education, awareness, and a market to the art while engaging both the arts
community and a broader general audience.
Karen Margolis
(Lives and works in New York, NY) Statement
I explore the mind’s architecture, mapping out my thought/feelings/memories into molecular patterns evocative of
chemical interactions generated in the brain. Charting my interior monologues became a system of translating
meaning into pattern. In this way I get beyond individual content and create a university of the mechanics of the
mind through a language of positive and negative forms. I burn holes into material with these deletions, reveal
aggregated masses of discrete colored particles meticulously applied with a paintbrush, each one marking off
minute of dislocated map fragments entrapped within these webs.

Lucas Grogan
(Lives and Works in Melbourne, Australia) Lucas Grogan is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the esoteric nature of cross cultural influence and
experience. Grogan uses techniques both traditional and radical to develop psycho-spiritual drawing, painting and
needlework that is at once attractive and off-putting. His practice explores themes of isolationism, multiculturalism
and the interconnectedness of contemporary life.

Rebecca Morgan
(1984 – Pennsylvania - Lives and works in Bloomsburg, PA)
Statement
Rebecca Morgan’s paintings, drawings, and ceramics emanate from stereotypes of rural Appalachia. Humorous,
benevolent, and savage at turns, her characters touch on truths about poverty, addiction, and off-the-grid living, as
well as idealizations of uncultured country life. Stylistically, Morgan embraces hyper-detailed naturalism, influenced
by Dutch painters such as Memling, Brueghel, and Van Eyck, as well as absurd, repulsive caricature suggestive of
underground cartoonists such as R.Crumb. As an on-and-off-again New Yorker, Morgan represents the ultimate
insider/outsider point-of view, embracing and critically distancing herself from her origins.
Bio Rebecca Morgan was born in central Pennsylvania, USA where she currently lives and works. She received a BA
from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and her MFA from Pratt Institute, NY. Press for her work includes
Time Out New York, ARTnews, Whitehot Magazine, Beautiful Decay, Artslant, Juxtapoz Magazine, and Berlin's
Lodown Magazine, among others. She is the recipient of a residency at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, a
Vermont Studio Center full fellowship, and the George Rickey Residency at Yaddo. Exhibitions include Gasser
Grunert Gallery, NY, Richard Heller Gallery, Los Angeles, CA, Vox Populi Gallery, Philadelphia, PA, Montclair State
University, Montclair, NJ, Whitdel Arts, Detroit, MI, Coop Gallery, Nashville, TN, and Spring/Break, New York, NY.
Annie Attridge
(1975 – UK – Lives and works in London)
Statement
Working mainly in porcelain, Annie Attridge creates twisting human and animal amalgamations that are at once
romantic and brazenly licentious. Her bawdy imagery explicitly contradicts the decorum of traditional porcelains,
while entwining arms, legs, and twisting tree limbs recall rococo curves. In the intimacy and luminous delicacy of her
pieces, Attridge expresses a torrent of emotion, a more earnest sentiment below the surface of cavorting carnality.
Her porcelain sculptures also feature gold leaf, pewter, jade, and carved and stained wood, using meticulous craft
to subvert the frivolity of traditional porcelain’s appeal.
Bio
Annie Attridge was born in 1975 in Wigan, UK. She received a MA from the Royal Academy, London and BA in
Painting from the University of Brighton. Her solo exhibitions include Nettie Horn, London, Galerie 13, Paris, and
Prowler Project Space, London. Her work has been included in exhibitions at Plus Art Projects, London, Galerie
Maurer, Frankfurt, the Contemporary Art Society, London, Danielle Arnaud Gallery, London, the Saatchi Gallery,
London, and "Grand National - Art from Britain" at the Vestfossen Kunstlaboratorium, Norway. She has received
reviews from The New York Times, Channel 4 News, ArtReview, the Evening Standard, and L Magazine, and her
work appears in the publications "Design Behind Desire" and Michael Petry's "Nature Morte". She lives and works
in London.
Arezoo Moseni
The more I draw the more I want to draw, explore and discover. Geometry, chemistry and motion are the engines
fueling my work and drawing is the foundation of everything I do including my photographic work.
The underpinning structure of my drawings, is a series of interconnected tetrahedrons inspired by Johannes Kepler’s
three laws of planetary motion, Leonhard Euler’s polyhedron formula, and Buckminster Fuller’s nature coordination
synergetics concept that tetrahedron is the basic building block of the universe.
The choice of using inks, photographic sensitizers and red wine (from different parts of the world) reflects my
romance with living breathing organic materials and the potential of discovery.
Red wine is the principle medium in my work. I became fascinated with this organic pigment during a series of wine
classes with Kevin Zraly in 1998 at Windows on the World on the 107th floor of 1 World Trade Center Tower.
I found out that tartaric acid in Vandyke sensitizer was an ingredient in wine and that wine was discovered and
produced in the Zagros region of Iran around 6000-4000 BC. This was inspiring to me because I was born near the
Zagros Mountains in Iran.
The visual appearance, color, luminosity and the aging process make red wine an exceptionally wondrous liquid
pigment to use in drawings and paintings. The sheer experience of working with and seeing red wine come alive on
paper, feels as if I am in paradise.
Keun Young Park Keun Young Park depicts the body in a state of transformation. Her works on paper show floating figures, faces,
draped arms and cupped hands, which appear to be disintegrating and reforming at once. The artist begins her
process with original photographs keyed to various evocative hues. The images are shredded by hand into
thousands of tiny pieces that are then reassembled. Between the pasted pieces are thin, white, vein-like lines that
reveal the texture of the paper’s edge. Park’s practice has a relationship to the precision of Pointillism, the
uniformity of Benday dots and the repetition of digital pixilation but her works retain a tactile, hand-made quality
through the irregularly shaped elements from which they are formed.
“I intend to reflect upon the a-static character of existence in the flow of time…I attempt to capture the tremor of
unstable presence,” writes Park. Each work vibrates with a quiet energy, conjuring up thoughts of both the
beginning of life and its end. This sense of disembodiment is balanced with a fullness of form and physicality that is
derived from the artist’s earlier practice as a sculptor.
Keun Young Park was born in Seoul, South Korea, where she received her BFA and MFA Degrees in Sculpture at
Seoul National University. Since 2005, Park has lived and worked in New York City and New Jersey. She has
received awards from A.I.R. Gallery, Artist Talk on Art, and the New Jersey State Council of the Arts, as well as
residencies with Vermont Studio Residency Program and Triangle Arts Workshop. Park has had numerous solo
and group exhibits in the United States, Korea and Beijing.
Nicolette Jelen
Nicolette Jelen works on glass are the reflection of her vision of many places: forests and glens, skies and seas. Her
work is infused with the spirit and light of the different parts of the world she has lived in, namely Morocco, Paris,
Transylvania, Hungary and the United States. Born and raised in Morocco, Jelen received her degree with high
honors at the Sorbonne in Paris, and completed further studies in New York at the Art Students League and at
Pratt Graphic Center while working at the Printmaking Workshop.

Murphy Scholarship in Drawing.
Robert Poulin.

Sensei was established by Joseph Latimore in the Spring of 2006 with the intention of exhibiting the work
of 50 new & emerging artists. A tiny storefront was acquired on NYC's Nolita/Chinatown border. And, in
June 2006 the project launched with a series of seven, one-week exhibitions assembled by Lisa Kirk.
The programming would continue to feature one-week exhibitions throughout the end of 2006. And, in
2007, Sensei moved to a slightly larger storefront in the East Village where it would expand its
presentation of works through a collaboration with Anthology Film Archives to include performance.
In February 2008, Sensei would complete its calendar of 50 artists with Harry Druzd's solo exhibition of
paintings Chicks & Skulls. And, after a brief hiatus, Sensei resumed operations in 2009 through a series
of pop-up exhibitions and art fairs.
In the Summer of 2013 Sensei launched a project, The Exchange Series in the cellar of The Little Fox
Cafe in downtown Manhattan. The Sensei Exchange Series was curated by Remy Amezcua and featured
exhibitions of work by WC Bevan, Aurora Pellizzi, Natalia Porter, Gabriella Alva, Njideka Akunyili, Doron
Langberg, Sarah Anderson, Ben Brunnemer, Juana Valdes and Nick Doyle. In addition, the Exchange
Series featured a photography forum with presentations by Craig Stokle and Azikiwe Mohammed.
On January 10, 2014 Sensei launched its new home - a 2,000 square foot loft with two exhibition spaces
on Manhattan's Lower East Side with a selection of new paintings by resident artist, Francis Simeni.

Hector Leonardi
Hector Leonardi received a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from
Yale University, where he studied with and was mentored by Josef Albers.
Mr. Leonardi was among the second generation of American abstractionists. However, he has navigated
his own path between expressionism and minimalism, to emerge with a unique visual vocabulary.
His work has been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions in the US and abroad.
Karl Mann
'During his early days in New York, he spent a lot of time at the Frick and the Metropolitan. He didn’t
study art and he has no formal training in it. Rather, he is a self-taught artist who is highly sophisticated,
knows a lot about all different kinds of art, and is well read'.
'An urbane man, he is at ease in both New York City and rural America. Other urbane, self-taught artists
that come to mind are Joseph Cornell, Jean Dubuffet, and Jasper Johns.'
- John Yau, Art Critic
Matt Bollinger
(né en 1980 - Il vit à New York)
