ADMISSION
An honours bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
with an average of at least B (70%), and the
following:
excellent knowledge of written and spoken
French and functional knowledge of written
and spoken English (proficiency in French
and English is assessed during the admission
interview)
3 credits in musculoskeletal anatomy
(University of Ottawa example: ANP1106 )
6 credits in psychology, including courses in
introductory psychology and developmental
psychology (University of Ottawa examples:
PSY1101, PSY2105)
3 credits in statistics (University of Ottawa
example: HSS2381)
3 credits in sociology or philosophy or
anthropology (University of Ottawa example:
SOC1101 or PHI1101 or ANT2100)

55.5 compulsory-course credits and 4.5
elective credits
fieldwork (1,000 hours over five
placements)
2. Course and dissertation stream
52.5 compulsory-course credits and 1.5

completed no more than six years before the
date of admission.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
The program has two streams, subject to
approval by the program director. Fieldwork
placement requirements are the same for both
streams.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Occupational therapists work not only in health
care institutions like community and university
hospitals and rehab centres, but also in home
care programs run by local community service
centres (CLSC), community health agencies,
school boards, and day care centres and support
groups.
