Vincent GERBAUD has a BSc in chemical engineering (1991, Toulouse, France), MSc in chemical
engineering (1992, UMASS, USA) and a PhD in chemical engineering (1996, Toulouse, France)
Research activities
o
He is a research fellow since 1998 at the Laboratoire de Génie Chimique where he develops an activity in
product and process design, with a special stress on the use of molecular modelling and molecular
thermodynamics in chemical engineering. He has written 57 international peer reviewed articles as a
senior author and 6 book chapters, has appeared in more than 90 contributions in peer-reviewed
international congresses (incL 27 oral presentations).
o
Its research activity is mainly Integrated Product and Process Design, in particular to promote the
importance of thermodynamic properties and models and molecular knowledge in chemical engineering.
Concerning product, reverse formulation tools have been its main focus, thanks to their ability to integrate
process constraints. In support for this activity, he has surveyed several works related to thermodynamics
of complex phase equilibrium systems and to molecular simulation. Concerning processes, he is involved
in the study of distillation processes with more than 15 major publications in this domain, as well as other
processes like crystallization, agglomeration where he investigates particles interactions.

He has supervised 12 PhD thesis, 11 of them as the main supervisor, and 11 post-docs.
o
He has conceived 6 commercial software (MeXtar 1.2, distributed by Laffort SA, MeXtar 2.0 distributed by
EnoOne Italy, ResidueCurve®, RegSolExpert®, P3 distributed by Prosim SA, IBSS distributed by INPT and
also a web application for conference management KCM Manager®.

He is a member of the French chemical engineering society in the computer and chemical engineering
section and in the thermodynamic section.
o
He is member of the Board of the French “GDR Thermodynamique”
Teaching
o
He teaches classes in molecular thermodynamics, molecular modelling, process design and unit
operation modelling at the INP-ENSIACET engineering school and at masters students at the University
of Toulouse.
o
He is also the author of three interactive courses on process modelling and simulation, on molecular
simulation and on molecular thermodynamics for chemical engineers.

Within the Laboratoire de genie chimique, he is in charge of the communication office.
Past administrative tasks
o
Within the Université de Toulouse, the engineering university, so-called INPT, hosts the Laboratoire de
Génie Chimique, he supervised the engineering of the web sites with various CMS tools of all seven
schools of engineering.
