Air Security and Safety Solutions You’re in Expert Hands with Thales Canada www.thalesgroup.com/canada World-Leading Situational Awareness and Management Solutions As a prime supplier and systems integrator, Thales Canada provides local expertise to address the needs of Canada’s forces. From advanced integrated multi-sensor systems and instrument landing systems to tactical control and maritime search radar for our air force and navy, Thales’ solutions are best-in-class. Advanced Integrated Multi-Sensor System (AIMS) Thales Canada was selected by DND to develop the AIMS system for Search and Rescue, maritime and tactical surveillance. AIMS is a fully integrated, stabilized multisensor system that improves the capability to conduct diverse missions around the clock and in adverse weather conditions. Optimizing the detection and identification of even small objects improves effectiveness and reduces search time. The easy-to-use and operate AIMS platform integrates next generation night vision technology into a fieldable system that can be modified for different aircraft or different sensor turrets. AIMS is portable and can be delivered rapidly. We integrated electro-optics and radar sensor technology with an Automatic Identification System (AIS) and mission management software and packaged it into a single or dual-console Operator Station. The Operator Station can be integrated with a wide range of electrooptic turrets according to customer requirements. Instrument Landing System Thales’ world leading ILS 420 system has been selected by DND to upgrade its existing ILS systems at air force bases domestically, assuring the continued safety of air operations. Thales has 35 years of continuous ILS development with the successful deployment of more than 3500 ILS systems in over 150 countries, the most of any company in the world. State of the art design delivers: • Versatility • Full compliance with ICAO’s latest performance standards to CAT III requirements • Enhanced Integrity and Safety – Highest reliability – Built-in automatic integrity test – Triple redundant shutdown paths • Low Life Cycle Cost • Comprehensive Maintenance Support to DND • Low cost of ownership – Minimum sparing; common modules between Glide Path and Localizer – Very low MTTR; plug-in modules – Industry Standard parts – Advanced redundant power supply Air Traffic Management Tactical Control Radar (TCR) The Thales STAR 2000 Air Traffic Management radar is the world’s leading radar for ensuring the security of airfield operations. Perfectly suited to DND’s needs for its radar replacement program, the STAR 2000 features exceptional proven reliability and availability and the capability to operate in complex environments. An extensive customer support network ensures that DND receives responsive tailored support for decades to come. • Operational in over 50 countries • Compatible with wind farm operations • Fault tolerant solid-state transmitter with 8 or 16 power modules • Power modules equipped with individual & independent cooling • Digital frequency selection per 1 MHz step • Digital Phase-Amplitude Detection receiver • Advanced Signal Processing Algorithms • Runs on COTS PC Linux • On-line system performance monitoring • Transmitter power-on maintenance with on-line replaceable modules Our recent success as TCR Prime is focusing the Thales Canada team to bring together disparate systems into a cohesive and fully integrated system. Our innovative approaches and customer focus have resulted in a seamless solution that will deliver a world class solution to the Air Force. We look forward to applying this expertise to the future ASR/SSR and TIC3A programs. Thales Canada will deliver to DND a new generation of mobile air defence capability. Thales’ solution includes its Ground Master 400, the world’s most advanced 3-dimensional mobile air defence radar, integrated with Identification Friend or Foe (IFF)command and control capabilities, GroundAir-Ground and SatCom Communications, Link 16/11/1, networking and management systems, and simulation. The Ground Master 400 provides exceptional long-range detection of targets ranging from small low-flying UAVs to high flying fighter aircraft under challenging weather and electronic warfare conditions. The outstanding reliability of the Ground Master 400, coupled with a design that inherently permits graceful degradation will assure the Canadian Forces of making the most capable contribution to air security wherever and whenever needed. • 3D Air Surveillance to 450 kms. • Performance against both high performance and lowcross-section targets • Below-the-horizon detection capability • Integrated IFF interrogator • Exceptional reliability • Graceful degradation through digital processing and redundancy • Exceptional mobility with minimum set-up time • Area air control with fully integrated communications and C2 suite. Best-in-class Solutions Ship Radar Thales Canada has been a major provider of radar systems to the Canadian Navy since 1967. The IROQUOIS Class has exclusively used Thales radar systems and, through recent overhaul activity, will continue to operate these radars into the next decade. These radars are the LW08 Long Range Air Surveillance Radars, the DA08 Medium Range Air / Surface Surveillance Radars and STIR 220 Fire Control Radars. Thales radars will continue to ensure that wherever the Canadian Navy may sail, it will be able to ensure the safety and security of its airspace. DND has selected the Thales SMART-S MkII radar for the Halifax Class Modernization Project. The SMART-S MkII is a state-of-the-art 3 dimensional volume search radar which is highly effective in supporting littoral operations. • 3D Air Surveillance with Fast Target alerts • Surface Surveillance • Surface Gun Fire Support • Jammer Surveillance • IFF Interrogation Support • Maximum Instrumented range : 250 km • Maximum elevation coverage : 70 degrees • Minimum Range : 150 meters • Tracking 3D capacity (Air+Surface) : 500 targets • Fully automatic detection and tracking. • Dedicated ECCM techniques. • Digital beamforming, resulting in 12 simultaneous receive beams • Multipath suppression • Digital pulse compression Thales Canada, Defence & Security 1 Chrysalis Way, Ottawa, ON, Canada, K2G 6P9 • tel: 1 613 723 7000 www.thalesgroup.com/canada Thales Canada has supported our armed forces’ modernization efforts for over 40 years with world-leading technology, efficient integration of scalable products, and dedicated life-cycle service.
