Company Of Ants In The Lantern, based in Lille
(France-59), produces and distributes puppet
and object theater. It develops mainly near and
short forms, creating an intimacy with the
audience as well as street in all kinds of places
closed.
Universal themes as obsolescence of our
everyday objects, and a theater without words
allow the company to the international
diffusion.
The show
Bright adventure of a bedside lamp.
One could think that Monsieur Watt's lifestyle resolves into the lighting of a bedside table. That's
all? Not really. His lifestyle is rather rhythmic, between two starting, little treats, dreams and
desires.
He likes reading a good book or support the French football team on the radio.
But how will be the future of a light bulb with such a fragile destiny?
When an old electric bulb has to face the arrival of energy savings...
Little puppet show for all public in a cartoon-like atmosphere.

Technical requirements

1 person in tour.
Audience: 150 persons max
Setting on place: 1 hour
Strike after the show: 30 minutes
Possibility to clean the area in 1 min for an other show (but a 2x2meters space his needed in
backstage).
Maximum 4 shows a day. 1 hour minimum between each show
Stage area: 2 meters by 2 meters
Audience position: Semi circle all around the bedside table.
We don’t care about the floor type.
Electric power: 220V - 10 Ampères (warning adaptators).
By day shows: THIS SHOW CAN’T OCCURE IN SUN. It needs a shady place. We need to see the
lamp switching on.
The company brings a black tent
Size : 3 meters / 4,5 meters / 3,5 m height. It needs 15 minutes to build it.
By night shows: We brings somes ligth hanging from the tent.
Indoor shows - minimum lighting requirements: We ask for :
2 flood lights 300W
2 stands (1,50m hight)
on each side, in front of the stage.
Transport : 1 person in tour, 1 car from Lille (North of France) or Plane.
The set travels in hold of plane easily.
There is one flycase of 38kg, It ‘s no need to make a freight. It can be transported with personnal
bagages. Just a custom duty has to be payed and the flycase noticed by phone to the air company
before leaving. If you choose travel by plane, you need to provide a sound system, and a tent or a place
without sun.
