Optical Where the Laser and CCD camera are located. Avoid excessive vibration and bumps as they may break the unit. Table Sets the Printed Circuit Board Lever By placing the printed circuit board into the holder and then closing the lever, the circuit board will be fixed in place. Opening the lever will enable the user to move/remove the PCB. Table Dial Used to match the width of the PCB holder on the X, Y table with the width of the circuit board to be measured. Emergency Stop Switch Used in emergencies to stop the table when in motion, or when other problems occur. Pressing this button stops the movement of the main table. The switch acts as a lock, so turn the switch to the right to unlock. Personal Computer Used to control the main unit. Keyboard For input. CRT Displays results, options. Mouse Used to control the cursor. Revised 11/21/01 CONTROL UNIT: 11 REAR PANEL MAIN UNIT REAR PANEL: Preparation Connector Not used by TD-3. Video Output Transmits video signals to the Control Unit. Power Supply Use at less than AC100V 1A RS-232C Connector Used for communication with the computer. Power Switch Power switch for the main unit. If this switch is off while you are trying to use the control unit, you will get an error message. Power Cord Use at the voltage indicated by the display. Revised 11/21/01 CONTROL UNIT (PC) REAR PANEL: 12 Operation Measurement Preparation Connecting The Cables When setting up the TD-3, remove the power cord from the power outlet and turn off the power switch of the main unit. 1) The main unit, optical section, BNC cable (short), and the control cable are connected. 2) Connect the main unit and the computer using the RS-232C cable and the BNC cable. 3) Plug the CRT (cable and power cord), keyboard and the mouse into the personal computer (control unit). 4) Plug the power cords into the outlet for both the main unit and the control unit. (1) #1 #2 To power cords #3 To mouse #4 To keyboard (4) (3) Setting The Table Width (3) (2) (4) Revised 11/21/01 The table must be set so that it matches the width of the printed circuit board of the board to be measured. By turning the table dial, the width will change. Turn the lever so that is facing the back of the unit and then adjust the table with the table dial until the width is almost the same as that of the circuit board. Place the circuit board inside the guides, adjust the width so that the circuit board is snug, and turn the lever towards you. 13 Setting The Circuit Board Place the circuit board into the table until the stoppers prevent it from being inserted any further. The position of the stoppers can be adjusted using the screws. When the circuit board can go in no further because of the stoppers, turn the lever towards the back, and the circuit board will be fixed in place. Use both hands to close the right and left levers. TD-3 Software Revised 11/21/01 The TD-3 software was developed for the Microsoft Windows platform. Please read the MS/DOS and MS Windows manuals for information on how to use a mouse (clicking, double clicking, dragging, etc.) as well as for information on using buttons, the menu bar, etc. When turning on the computer, click the TD-3 icon to start program. To exit the TD-3 software and turn off the computer, the user needs to exit from MS Windows.
