FOREWORD
Thank you for purchasing the Malcom TD-3 Automatic Paste Print Inspection. The Malcom
TD-3 uses a slit laser to measure the height and volume of paste printers in a non-contact
fashion. Visual data is obtained using a CCD Camera and then processed by Malcom’s
WINDOWS-based software.
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE
USING THE MALCOM TD-3.

Setting The Table Width
(3)
(2)
(4)
Revised 11/21/01
The table must be set so that it matches the width of the printed circuit board of the board to
be measured. By turning the table dial, the width will change. Turn the lever so that is facing
the back of the unit and then adjust the table with the table dial until the width is almost the
same as that of the circuit board. Place the circuit board inside the guides, adjust the width
so that the circuit board is snug, and turn the lever towards you.
13
Setting The Circuit Board
Place the circuit board into the table until the stoppers prevent it from being inserted any
further. The position of the stoppers can be adjusted using the screws. When the circuit
board can go in no further because of the stoppers, turn the lever towards the back, and the
circuit board will be fixed in place. Use both hands to close the right and left levers.
TD-3 Software
Revised 11/21/01
The TD-3 software was developed for the Microsoft Windows platform. Please read the
MS/DOS and MS Windows manuals for information on how to use a mouse (clicking,
double clicking, dragging, etc.) as well as for information on using buttons, the menu bar,
etc. When turning on the computer, click the TD-3 icon to start program. To exit the TD-3
software and turn off the computer, the user needs to exit from MS Windows. Turn off the
