Efficacité d'une prise en charge précoce et intensive
L’ensemble des études sur les prises en charge éducatives intensives précoces ont été examinées
dans le rapport INSERM de février 2003, rapport intitulé « Troubles mentaux : dépistage et
prévention chez l’enfant et l’adolescent » (pages 533 et suivantes).
Toutes ces études concordent pour indiquer une amélioration très sensible du pronostic pour un
nombre très important d’enfants qui ont bénéficié de ce type de prise en charge, une augmentation
significative des QI, une non réversibilité des progrès enregistrés, ainsi que l’intégration en milieu
ordinaire d’un nombre d’enfants significativement supérieur à ce qui est observé habituellement
chez les enfants affectés par l’autisme et pris en charge différemment. Ce rapport ne fait que
confirmer les études qui ont été réalisées par de nombreux services nationaux, en particulier aux
Etats-Unis et au Canada.
Il existe une abondante littérature scientifique montrant l'efficacité des prises en charge de type
A.B.A. en matière d'autisme. Dans cette section, nous nous contentons de mentionner une
quarantaine de références toutes tirées de revues scientifiques à comité de relecture.
A contrario, nous sommes malheureusement forcés de constater l'indigence des publications
françaises sur le sujet. Nous espérons que le déploiement de prises en charge A.B.A. en France
suscitera davantage de publications de la part des chercheurs français.
