POSTING AFFICHAGE TO All Personnel FROM Human Resources Services SUBJECT Position to be filled – Champlain Regional College (St. Lawrence Campus) POSITION Champlain Regional College is seeking the services of a SPECIAL EDUCATION TECHNICIAN, to work on a regular full-time position in the department of Student Services at Champlain Regional College (St. Lawrence Campus). FUNCTIONS Reporting to the Dean of Students, the incumbent will be responsible for applying techniques and methods of special education within the context of an intervention plan or program designed for students with various functional limitations. SPECIFIC DUTIES 1. Working in consultation with the student experiencing functional limitations, participate in the development of an intervention plan corresponding to his or her needs and to which overcomes his or her limitations in order to support learning. 2. Ensure all aspects of accommodation including the explanation of available services, resources and assistive technology, such as devices and specialized equipment. 3. Oversee the following of the clientele in all forms, record his or her observations and interventions and maintain case files. 4. Enter the necessary information in PILEQ corresponding to the intervention plans of the students enrolled in Special Needs Services and proceed with the application of the Allowance for Special Needs Program (PABP). 5. Forward, according to the determined special measures and characteristics, the necessary documents to faculty whose students are enrolled in Special Needs Services. Communicate and act as a liaison to faculty in order to ensure the accommodation measures and issues are understood. 6. Provide the necessary support to faculty in their teaching mission to favor an environment conducive to learning. Inform and sensitize the various persons called to intervene with students with disabilities. 7. Ensure the planning and organizing of monitoring during exam period for students with special needs. See to the identification, coordination and verification of the hours worked by invigilators, tutors and note takers to uphold the integrity of the process. 8. Develop appropriate tools to help the students. 9. Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings. 10. Assist and actively participate in the activities of Student Services and of the Campus, as needed. Perform any related duties as required. WORKING HOURS Thirty-five (35) hours per week. The schedule will be determined at the beginning of each semester. QUALIFICATIONS Education Must have a college diploma (DEC) in Special Education or in an appropriate specialty or, a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority. Requirements Excellent communication skills in English and French, both orally and in writing. Must have good knowledge of the different limitations (sensory, motor, neurological, organic, mental health and learning disabilities). Possess advanced skills and practical knowledge in the use of specialized software and equipment suitable for all levels of limitations. Possess good knowledge of education strategies for college level students with special needs. Competencies Interpersonal and communication skills, including the sense of inclusivity and teamwork. Ability to plan and organize. Demonstrate independence and initiative. FONCTIONS Relevant de la directrice adjointe des Services aux étudiants aux étudiants, le(la) titulaire sera responsable d’appliquer des techniques et des méthodes d’éducation spécialisée dans le cadre d’un plan d’intervention ou d’un programme destinés à la clientèle étudiante présentant des limitations fonctionnelles diverses. TÂCHES SPÉCIFIQUES 1. Travaillant en concertation avec la clientèle étudiante présentant des limitations fonctionnelles, participer à l’élaboration d’un plan d’intervention correspondant à ses besoins et palliant à ses limitations afin de soutenir ses apprentissages. 2. Veiller sur tous les aspects des accommodements y compris les explications sur les services et les ressources disponibles et sur les aides techniques tels que les appareils, l’équipement, le matériel spécialisé. 3. Voir à l’accompagnement de la clientèle étudiante sous toutes ses formes, consigner ses observations et se interventions, et tenir à jour les dossiers des cas dont il ou elle est responsable. 4. Transcrire les informations nécessaires dans PILEQ, correspondant aux plans d’intervention des étudiantes inscrites et étudiants inscrits dans les Services adaptés et s’occupe de l’application au Programme d’allocation pour les besoins particuliers (PABP). 5. Acheminer, selon les mesures spéciales et particularités déterminées, les documents nécessaires au personnel enseignant à la clientèle étudiante inscrite aux Services adaptés. Communiquer et agir à titre de liaison avec le personnel enseignant afin d’assurer que les mesures d’accommodements et les problématiques soient bien comprises. 6. Apporter le soutien nécessaire au personnel enseignant dans leur mission d’enseignement pour favoriser un environnement propice aux apprentissages. Voir à informer et à sensibiliser les différentes personnes appelées à intervenir auprès des étudiantes handicapées et des étudiants handicapés. 7. Veiller à la planification et à l’organisation de la surveillance requise lors de la passation des examens par la clientèle étudiante ayant des besoins particuliers. Assurer l’identification, la coordination et la vérification des heures travaillées pour le personnel effectuant la surveillance, le tutorat et la prise de notes, afin de faire respecter l’intégrité du processus. 8. Développer des outils pertinents pour aider l’étudiant. 9. Participer activement aux rencontres de l’équipe interdisciplinaire. 10. Assister et participer activement dans les activités des Services aux étudiants du Campus, au besoin. Accomplir, au besoin, toute autre tâche connexe. HORAIRE DE TRAVAIL Trente-cinq (35) heures par semaine. L’horaire sera à déterminer au début de chaque session. QUALIFICATIONS Scolarité Détenir un diplôme d’études collégiales (DEC) tel que le DEC en éducation spécialisée ou avec champ de spécialisation approprié un diplôme ou une attestation d’études dont l’équivalence est reconnue par l’autorité compétente. Exigences Excellentes aptitudes à communiquer en anglais et en français, à l’oral et à l’écrit. Posséder de bonnes connaissances des différentes limitations (sensorielle, motrice, neurologique, organique, santé mentale et troubles d’apprentissage). Posséder un niveau avancé d’habiletés et de connaissances pratiques dans l’utilisation des logiciels spécialisés et du matériel adapté pour toutes les limitations. Posséder de bonnes connaissances des stratégies éducatives pour la clientèle étudiante ayant des besoins particuliers, au niveau collégial. Compétences Aptitudes en communication et en relations interpersonnelles, notamment, le sens de l’accueil et le travail d’équipe. Avoir une bonne capacité de planification et d’organisation. Faire preuve d’autonomie et d’esprit d’initiative.
