It is indeed true that we are people of sailing boats, a problem arose when health whatsoever, we feel well far from our
land belonging! We are confronted in this reality-called unknown and seem to sail to this doubt in our minds.
But when this confrontation arose between risk or pending. I think on the contrary that we should not stop this
phenomenon on the choice and instead focus all our trust in medicine by these people because of medical field possess
all the necessary skills, which quite often than not exceed our knowledge and you have to like us, well admit it! Â
So today I am going to share with you the experience that we lived there are no long ago! Therefore here is a very
beautiful story, that of our surgeon doctor ophthalmologist we lucky enough to rub and what is more, consider also as a
good friend! Â
His name is Dr. Sidney Isaac Morales Gordillo. He is married to Hedda Liz Barrera and they have a 9-year-old son
named Isaac Rodrigo. Dr. Sidney studied at the University of San Carlos in Guatemala to make his training and
internship speciality for cornea and cataract in the ophthalmology department at the hospital Roosevelt Guatemala City.
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ Â
These 2 specialty programs belong exclusively to the same university where he studied. He thus began his career in
1989 as ophthalmologist and then opened in 1992, his own practice deprives at Guatemala City.
Meanwhile his good friend optometrist who had a clinic Puerto Barrios informed him of a lack of eye and asked if they are
willing to make some consultations monthly! Although this would require the displacement of Guatemala City has Puerto
Barrios. Dr Sydney enthusiastically accepted, which was the effect of a bomb beside of this community, since he offered
to take over the clinic of ophthalmology 'hospital Bandega Del Monte has Morales. Â Â Seeing the magnitude of the
situation, in 1993, with the assistance of his good friend, Dr. John Cheatham, therefore they decided to open a clinic

does not undergoing chemotherapy treatments! To do this, he had to bring his dear child in the big city, Guatemala City.
These treatments were staggered over a period of almost 4 years. So far Dr Sydney precise me at that state of health of
his young son is good. So treatments ended, he returned settle with her little family at Morales.
Despite this situation has him all dupe his emotions, he is still able to ride Guatemala City / Morales but this time, from
Saturday to Tuesday because Wednesday, Thursday Friday and Saturday he has devoted his clinic at Morales who it
receives its many patients.Â
I must clarify that date, the customers of Dr. Sidney is really impressive and is composed of multi-ethnic people of
course, like Canada, United States, Central America and of course the Rio Dulce. Â It is to tell you that our good friend Dr.
Sidney has a lot of work to do as we say!  At its all beginning, our good friend he was, in fact, the only and unique has
practice this profession and today he maintains me he is counted and preferred lucky to be able to help a whole class of
people! All this to tell you that he has the satisfaction of a job well done!
To give you a brief overview of the work of Dr. Sidney, I stated that carries 350 more cataract surgeries and more than
300 other minor surgeries annually and all that yearly. Dr Sydney has also encounters cases or the chances of success
were very slim, but he had after that raises his fingers from fee as they say, he noticed that the results were as
convincing astonishing.

Donc voici une tres belle histoire, celle de notre medecin chirurgien-ophtalmologiste dont nous avons eu le privilege de
cotoyer et qui plus est, considerons egalement comme un bon ami! Son nom est Dr Sidney Isaac Morales Gordillo. Il est
marie a Hedda Liz Barrera et ils ont un fils de 9 ans prenomme Rodrigo Isaac. Dr Sidney a étudié a l’Universite de San
Carlos au Guatemala pour ainsi faire sa formation et son stage de spécialite pour la cornee et la cataracte au
département d’ophtalmologie de l’hopital Roosevelt a Guatemala City. Ces 2 programmes de spécialité appartienn
exclusivement a cette meme université d’ou il a étudié. Il débuta donc sa carrière en 1989 comme ophthalmologiste
ouvrit ensuite en 1992,son propre cabinet prive a Guatemala City . Entretemps son bon ami optometriste qui avait une
clinique a Puerto Barrios lui fit part du manque d’ophtalmologiste et lui demanda s’il accepterait d’effectuer quelqu
consultations mensuellement! Meme si cela exigerait un deplacement de Guatemala City a Puerto Barrios, Dr Sydney
accepta avec enthousiasme, ce qui fit l’effet d’une bombe aupres de cette communaute, puisqu‘on lui offrit de prendre
charge la clinique d’ophtalmologie de l’hopital Bandega Del Monte a Morales.  Voyant l’ampleur de la situation, en
avec l’aide de son bon ami, le Dr John Cheatham, ils décidèrent donc d’ouvrir une clinique a Morales tout en debutan
comme travailleur social, histoire de se mettre au parfum. La clinique pris donc un elan des plus vertigineux. Par contre,
apres quelque temps d‘operation, une ombre venait ternir cette immense joie. Son bon ami du lui annoncer avec tristesse
qu’il devait se retirer de leur projet pour se consacrer a ses autres projets humanitaires dont il avait entrepris auparavant
et dont il tenait egalement a coeur! Dr Sidney ne se laissa pas abattre pour autant et tout en analysant bien la situation, il
pris la sage decision de prendre penaple a Morales. Malheureusement, apres 4 ans d’operation un malheur frappa de
plein fouet notre bon ami. Il apprenait avec amertume que son jeune fils Rodrigo Isaac était atteint de leucemie et que
son etat ne s’ameliorerait guere, s’il ne subissait pas des traitements de chimio! Pour ce faire, il devait ameneer son
enfant cheri dans la grande ville, soit Guatemala City. Ces traitements se sont echelonnes sur une periode de presque 4
ans. A ce jour Dr Sydney me precise que l’etat de sante de son jeune fils est bon. Donc les traitements termines, il revint
s’etablir avec sa petite famille a Morales. Malgre que cette situation lui a gruger toutes ses emotions, il continue
d’effectuer le trajet Guatemala City/Morales mais cette fois-ci du samedi au mardi puisque les mercredi, jeudi vendredi et
samedi il les consacre a sa clinique de Morales d’ou il recoit ses nombreux patients .  Je dois vous preciser qu’a ce jou

la clientele du Dr Sidney est vraiment imposante et se compose de gens multiethniques bien entendu, tout comme le
Canada, les Etats-Unis, l’amerique central et bien evidemment le Rio Dulce. .C’est pour vous dire que notre bon ami le D
Sidney a beaucoup de pain sur la planche comme on dit! A ses tous debuts, notre bon ami il était en fait le seul et unique
a pratiquer ce métier et aujourd’hui il m’affirme qu’il se compte des plus chanceux et privilegie de pouvoir venir en
toute classe de gens! Tout ceci pour vous dire qu’il a la satisfaction du devoir accompli! Pour vous donner un bref apercu
du travail du Dr Sidney, il me precisait qu’il effectue plus 350 chirurgies pour cataracte et plus de 300 autres chirurgies
mineures et tout cela annuellement. Dr Sydney a en fait aussi rencontres des cas ou les chances de reussite etaient tres
minces, mais qu’apres qu’il eut pose ses doigts de fee comme on dit, il constata que les resultats furent aussi convainca
qu’etonnants. Ce qui corrabore mes dires, a savoir qu’il voue une passion sans borne pour son metier.  Avec tout
l’ampleur de son travail, vous vous demandez surement si notre bon docteur a droit a quelques temps libres? Je me le
demandais egalement mais imaginez-vous donc que oui. Il aime jouer au golf sur le petit parcours de 9 trous situe a
Morales et s’empressait de m’informer qu’on peut egalement devenir membre a moindre prix, alors avis aux interess
l‘invitation est lancee! En plus de sa passion pour son metier, il adore les chiens, preuve a l’appui puisqu’il est egalem
eleveur de German Shepard, qui sont en passant de magnifiques chiens! Â Sachant que tous et chacun de nous tous on
un reve quelconque, je lui ai demande lequel etait le sien? Voici ce qu’il m’a repondu: Il aimerait enormement ameliore
sa clinique ca c’est bien evident, mais son reve le plus cher dont il tient vraiment a Coeur n’en demeure pas moins que
celui d’avoir son propre hopital d’ophtalmologie afin de pouvoir traiter la plupart des problemes de l’oeil. Tout cela
evidemment exigerait plus de medecins avec de meilleurs equipements tout en ayant une grande piece attenante d’ou il
pourrait accueillier les gens les plus demunis de tous les pays avoisinnants. Bien qu’il soit en contact avec quelques
organismes internationaux dont il a si soigneusement presente son projet, et plus est, qui sont enthousiasme a ce projet,
il n’en reste pas moins que si tous et chacun mettrait un peu du sien, en lui procurant toutes ressources necessaires pour
qu’il puisse mener a bien son but, ca serait des plus fantastique! Voila maintenant je vous demande de bien memoriser
ce nom! Rien de plus facile puisque c’est Dr Sydney Morales de Morales! Amusant vous ne trouvez pas? Alors tout
