POST-DOCTORAL POSITION Project Ultrafast Acoustoelectric
POST-DOCTORAL POSITION A postdoctoral position in Ultrafast Acoustoelectric Imaging is open at Institut Langevin in Paris (www.institut-langevin.espci.fr). Project Ultrafast Acoustoelectric Imaging In Vivo Imaging the electrical activity of the body is central to the diagnosis of and treatment planning for some of our most pressing healthcare challenges, including heart and brain diseases. However, there exists no clinical imaging modality that can noninvasively and directly map the electrical activation of tissues to improve our understanding of these complex diseases, perform better diagnoses, and contribute to the development of novel therapeutic approaches. We have recently introduced Ultrafast Acoustoelectric Imaging (UAI) for the mapping of current densities at thousands of images per second based on the acoustoelectric effect and have shown its feasibility in phantoms. This project aims to demonstrate, for the first time, the feasibility of imaging biological currents in vivo. The research includes the development of novel instrumentation, ex vivo studies using a Langendorff system, and in vivo studies in large animals. Applicant Successful candidates will have a PhD in Engineering or Science with expertise in biomedical imaging. Candidates with experience in signal processing and computer programming (Matlab/C++) are preferred. The position is for one year with the possibility of renewal. The starting date is negotiable. Work environment The post-doctoral researcher will join the Wave Physics for Medicine and Biology team directed by Dr. Mickael Tanter at Institut Langevin. Located in the heart of Paris, the team brings together physicists with expertise in wave physics and biomedical imaging to propose novel approaches to imaging and therapy based on optics and ultrasound. Major contributions of the team include the development of Ultrafast ultrasound imaging, Shear Wave Elastography, and fUltrasound, among others. Application Process Applicants should submit a cover letter and a resume as one document to [email protected] . Please also provide the name, email address, and telephone number for at least two references if possible. Contact Jean Provost, Ph.D., Institut Langevin, ESPCI ParisTech, CNRS, INSERM [email protected]
