Un “Minuit, chrétiens” chanté par un prodige vocal américain
de 7 ans…
Rhema Marvanne est une jeune américaine de 10 ans (elle est née le 15 septembre 2002 à Carrolton, Texas), malgré
son âge elle est déjà très célèbre aux États-Unis comme chanteuse de gospel. La vidéo qui suit a été enregistrée alors
qu’elle avait 7 ans ! Elle chante l’adaptation anglaise (O Holy Night) du chant de Noël classique français Minuit,
chrétiens écrit par Placide Cappeau (c. 1843) et mis en musique par Adolphe Adam (1847). Si ce chant traditionnel,
pourtant magnifique, n’est plus guère chanté en France, sa version anglaise est un “standard” incontournable aux
États-Unis, toutes “congrégations” confondues. Et l’interprétation de cette jeune chanteuse est tout simplement
époustouflante ! Enjoy…
Voici la version anglaise la plus connue du cantique, due à l’Américain John Sullivan Dwight (1813-1893) qui l’écrivit
en 1855 :
O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
